Question for racers without heaters in the car.....
What did you use to plug the water ports on the head that go to/from the heater core?
I was having a hard time finding a brass plug with the correct thread pitch for the B16 head so I cut off the spout, tapped the inside of the spout and put a smaller brass plug in it. Same with the spout on the tsat housing. Im not 100% satisfied with the job and was wondering if there is an alternative.

What I do when I plug up the coolent passage to the head from the heater valve is I us the Plug that holds in the Rocker arm shafts. Just my thoughts hopefully this helps.
Damn, I wish I knew that plug was the same size. I cut the nipple portion off and welded a patch in (to the threaded bung of the nipple, not to the head itself). It looks pretty good, but using the rocker arm shaft plug would have been way less work. I also cut the nipple off of the water pipe and welded a patch. I found some 5/8" rubber caps at Kragen, but they started to crack after a while. They're actually made for capping off heater core lines. They suck though.
Hope that helps.

Yeah I used those plugs too but they are too risky. They cracked after 6 months. I ended up tapping the threaded bung and the tstat housing and putting a brass plug in each. took about half an hour and cost almost $3. We will see if it is a reliable fix or not.
Im talking about the one on the head under the distributor and the port on the side of the thermostat housing.
