Default b16 into my 92 civic SI

i was thinking of swapping a jdm b16 into my car,do you guys think it would be worth it? i keep reading about how b16 is a "tourqueless engine" and what not. Anyone here with a b16 in there car care to share their experience with it?

B16A: faster than a D-series, slower than a B18.

The B16A is really no different to drive daily than a D-series, other than its requirement for premium fuel. It has about the same amount of power as a Z6 until you reach the high revs.

It's up to you whether it would really be worth it. Personally, if I were you, I wouldn't bother with the "minor" step up to the B16A since you already have the Si with the D16Z6. Sure, it'll be faster overall, but you won't notice it unless you wind it out all the time. If I were to do an engine swap into an Si, it would have to be 1.8L to make it worthwhile.

If your priority is straight line speed on a limited budget, you can always turbocharge the D-series for less than what an OBD-1/2 B-series engine swap would cost.

My old EG with a Z6 swap and I/H/E ran 15.3's which was pretty good. My EG hatch with a I/H/E B16 ran 13.9. 35 more hp, closer ratio tranny, 1k rpm more usable power band. If you don't know how to drive very well a GSR swap would be a good choice, the extra 10 ft/lbs of TQ makes up for driver error with the illusion of more power.

B16 is an awesome motor,I happened to luck out and got a insane b16,i dunno what in it yet but i can take stock type r's with it no word of a lie.I dont know why people are totally set on B18c>B16.I mean i know a b18 will beat a b16 but i cant see it being too bad, after all the b16 slightly beats the gsr in most aspects other than displacement eg. better head, higher comp. pistons, better tranny etc. B18c is a good motor but its doesnt mean you automatically haveta count the b16 out. I myself would take a b18c but my choice for a b16 wouldnt be too far behind it.

It all depends on what you're looking to get out of the motor.
Any way you look at it, the motor has a lot of potential though.

very true... if u want to do drag (straight line racing) then a B18 would be a better choice but when u circuit race (tack with turnz ) u need high rev high HP, now we all know that a GSR or ITR motor has more HP but if u build that b16 it will be a beast, me myself i'm about to purchase a B16 motor and build it for circuit racing... i think its a good choice and the extra money u save (rather than buying a B18) u can drop that $$$ in the motor and be faster than a GSR or maybe even an ITR.

I have a b16 in a 93 hatch and my friend has a b18c in a 92 hatch with roughly the same mods i beat him all day long at the track and the street. I get him off the line and he cant catch up the torque in the bottom end doesnt help him that much so the faster rpm's in my b16 get me ahead and he can't catch up to me.
