NORTH END BLEW UP MY ENGINE
North End in Aberdeen MD did this to my honda civic! (gsr engine)
And they're saying they had nothing to do with it. We brought it to
them with interior problems (someone had broken into our car)
When we dropped it off the car turned over and was able to run.
We got it back like this!

Holy **** bro.
I hope anyone reading this in that area gives them a call and tells them that their name will go to **** on H-T.
What is their side of the story?
Are they basically telling you to screw yourself, or what?
Why not give us their full business name, adress, phone number, and website/e-mail addy so we know who to stay the hell away from.

so what did they tell you?
"hey um, you drove your car here earlier and dropped it off, but i guess you did not know the engine was blown and you have to tow it home now"

well basically we brought it there with ignition problems because someone tried to steal our car..,they ended up stealing our GSR seats, cd player, all our gauges, cutting our ignition a little, and busting up the dashboard.. they said they got the car messed up to begin with it just died on them...

I don't want to hijack your thread, but I've recently had some grief with them, still have some actually.
I have had some machine work done there, block honing etc; with no apparent problem. But, recently I had them extract some broken bolts from my trailing arm, which he did a half-*** job doing, IMO. I need to take it back to him to get it done right
I can't figure if this is a reputable shop or not. I was refered to them by one of the Honda-Challenge drivers, whom I met over the summer. They seemed to do good work for the driver (I won't name which). Robert (the owner) built his engine and racecar, for the most part.
Here is the shop information anyway:

I have spoken to Robert on several occasions, and he seems like a trustworthy guy. But, after what happend with me and seeing this thread, I don't know.

Also, they had an insurance appraiser come out and he told us that the engine was already screwed up because they couldn't have possibly done that kind of damage to the engine... our car has no real rev limit. He didn't want anything to do with us and helping us out.. Basically what happened was one of the intake valves floated and broke into pieces inside the engine. The appraisor told us that something got inside the intake and that's how it blew up.. but they're all trying to say that the engine destruction was not the shops fault.
If we don't get insurance money we're definately going to sue. by the way, my wife has been out of a car for a month and a half now because of them! fortunately i'm away at basic training and tech school for the US AIR FORCE SERVING OUR COUNTRY, and she's able to drive my car while I'm away. Bastards.
I just got back from tech school on leave last week from keesler AFB in mississippi. it's been sitting since it was broken
EDIT: Just asked wife, all of this happened in mid-october,. so it's been sitting for over 2 months now

I'm not taking their side, but...
If someone tried to steal your car is there no way possible that they did not simply hold your engine at full throttle and get it on the verge of blowing up?
you take the car in "running" condition and upon start-up it finally gives way.
Is that so impossible?
Just throwing that out there.
I work at a shop (very repyatable I might add) and we've sen some really messed up **** come through and sometimes due to shitty luck/timing a customer's car decides it wants to break something under our possesion.
That might not be the case here, but it's still possible IMO. Only other thing that could have happened that could be their fault was a test drive gone awry and a tech revved the **** out of your engine - is that likely?
Did they get the car running? What exactly were they to fix on the car besides interior, because if their job wasn't to fix the ignition/wiring problems then how did the car get in running condition in order to blow it up?

We have an alarm on the civic, you can't turn it on without the key.
EDIT: Also, we're friends with the mechanics at the shop and one of them asked us numerous times (before all of this happened) if he could take the car for a test drive.. and the other kid that works there immediately jumped over asking us for parts off the engine once it blew up...

Well the ignition wasn't all messed up, it was just pulled out from under the dash, they just had to put it all back up inside there and make sure it all worked, when we dropped the car off it was able to turn on and run
That sucks... you didn't sign anything that doesn't hold them liable, did you?
On a side note: I think it's pretty funny that you didn't take either manifold off when you took your head off

sounds like you could take them to court in fact, and I'd tell them you plan to.

wow. if the shop did that. I say take them to court and sue the ***** out of them. I mean not only for damages, but for everything. Take them down....
not to blow anyones spot or give out names, but i know at a few shops or audio places when customers leave cars ( especially tuned or powerful ) the installers or tech's will rev cars or race em etc. seen it b4 but not to say that happened tho! But that definately looks like it should be investigated if you know it wasnt blown taking it in.
