Carbon Fiber Mugen Lip, Installation help needed!
okay, i searched and didn't find instructions that were detailed enough, I just got a mugen style cf lip for my 99-00 civic coupe, it comes with NO hardware, and I would like to do the install perfectly as it's going on a brand new oem bumper.
first off, I need to get double sided tape, what type of tape should I buy and what areas should i put it on?
secondly, I dont have any screws, I am assuming 4 tapping screws will be fine where the stock Si lip location is?, and I need to drill some holes for the screws to be going in, anyone in orange county, so cali want to help? (experienced people that have it on their own car of course)
and last but not least, I just need tips on how to do it right, what steps I should take, and as you can tell I am a very cautious person and I like to do things right the first time, thanks in advance!!, heres what the lip looks like for those who don't know.

I recommend 3M heavy duty double sided tape (not the regular double sided tape that's white in color when peeled; the real good stuff is grayish). You'll also need four M4x19 self-tapping screws -- for added security, you might wanna use hex-nut combo or bolt-washer combo. First, clean your bumper and make sure it's void of debris. Very important!
Appy the tape around the edges where the lip contacts the lower bumper. Once you've tested fitment, tape the lip onto the bumper applying even force to each area. Make sure the application is firm. Once firm, use a heat gun and heat the taped lip segments all-around for maximum adhesion.
Then, secure your lip with the M4x19 self-tapping screws onto the side of the lip -- 2 screws per side.
If there's room at the bottom of your lip, you can also attach two aluminum support strips near the center. Attach one end of a 4-inch "z shaped" aluminum strip from the bottom inner skirts of the lip and secure the other end to the bottom of your bumper with a bolt.

When I had my type-r lip and rear lip installed, the shop didn't use double-sided tape. Instead they used 3M glue. Worked great, plus lip didn't move, it was just stuck there like one piece. I liked it this way a lot, plus I was never planning on replace my the lip. I don't think it would be a probably either, my rear lip fell off once (long story) wasn't a mark on the bumper no paint pulled off, nothing.
Hey, nice lip!
If you plan to drill in the CF, make sure to wear some type of breathing and eye protection. CF may look pretty, but it's VERY hazardous if it gets in your body. Also, make sure your pets don't come and eat it either. (if you have any)

Either way, Mugen doesn't make carbon fiber lips, so just stop saying they're Mugen.
Also, not ABS plastic either, so try again..
Fiberglass only boys, and real Mugen parts use OEM mounting locations and hardware with about a difficulty level of 0 if you follow the included instructions.

i would drill two small holes in the back of the lip and the back of the bumper (inside the wheel well area)
then use a bolt to feed it through and put a nut at the end.
I'm not experienced with carbon fiber too much, but i would be hesitant to think that self tapping screws will hold onto CF

lol, anyhow, Hater I dont plan on spending $350 for a real lip if it's going to get f$@ked up down the road anyway, so as long as it looks nice, I dont care if it aint "mugen", I said mugen style, but your just a hater so
I just put my lip on last night. I used 3M tape (the white mounting tape, found at Office Depot) all the way around the bumper in as many contact spots as possible. I also put 3M tape on the ends of the lip where it goes into the wheel well. After I got it stuck on there, I drilled through the ends and through the bumper cover, and I put a screw in through that. It's on there nice and tight, I just have to get some flat black paint today to touch up the screw-head with.
My FI CF lip came with double sided tape. It was something between the low end white stuff and the super strong 3m grey stuff. If I were you, use the cheaper white stuff all around then screws/bolts in the fender well area. The reason I'm suggesting the white stuff is that it has like a cushion/"tear off" material between both sticky sides. Believe me, you want that to give first before your CF lip when scraping your lip going up/down steep bumps/entrances. Its going to save your lip for heavy damage.
good luck hope you enjoy it, i used 4 stingers and 3m double sided tape, worked well, but i decided to take the lip off, i am gonna get an OE si bumper. but had no problems with removal.
