I dont think a D series tranny will bolt up to an H22, but even if it could, the auto transmission wont be able to handle the extra HP, so it wont last too long without breaking.

haha yah thats awesome.....unless she's like my old g-friend....she'd teach me a thing or two

They made automatic H22s. Some of them even had the sportshift option. I don't think that swap would be much different than a reguklar H22 swap. Check in the FAQ thread at the top of the forum about the H22 into an EK swap.

As far as my wife not knowing what engine would be in the car, it would never work. She knows the differnce believe me. I would switch to a 5 speed if it was my project but she plans to boost it later and run consistant times on the track. It will rob some power, but it also has its advantages. Thanks for all of the input, and please keep the info coming if you can help. My CRX should be getting its new life this spring. Either a Dart block custom set up or a stock B18C5. Happy Holidays!

An auto tranny definitely isnt going to be able to stand the extra FI horsepower, unless you get a custom bulletproof tranny made for like 3 grand.

where did he say that he's using a d tranny? and auto tranny wont last too long?
where are you getting this info from?
back to the topic. im not really sure but from the looks of an auto h22 tranny, its looks bigger then the standard transmission. i believe the tranny is going to hit the beam unless you cut and fabricate it. i say this because one of my friends girlfriend has a automatic b20 turbo in the 5th gen. coupe and that tranny was rubbing the beam. so we had to grind the beam down a tab bit, but with the larger motor tranny from the h22, i think youll need to fabricate more in order to fit in the auto tranny. hope that helps.

Because 1, he never said anything about an H22 tranny, and 2, a Honda automatic transmission WILL blow under the harsh conditions the turbocharger will put on it.
and where did you see him say anything about a D tranny? "he want to put in a h22 and leave it automatic". that makes more sense then you coming up with the idea of him wanting a d tranny.
honda tranny will blow? so why would companys put out turbo kits for auto's? so they can ride around and kill the tranny?
i have a friend with a b20 auto boost running 10lb daily with over 60k miles and its still holding up fine.

Why has nobody thought of the fact that the PRELUDE AUTOMATIC TRANNY IS PHYSICALLY TOO BIG AND WILL NOT FIT INTO THE CIVIC CHASSIS WITHOUT HACKING THE FRAME UP.

My shop did a full B18B swap into a 1998 civic and the frame rail had to be trimmed. We told the guy we would not do it, but he insisted and we even expressed in writing that we did not think it was an optimal set-up.
The H22A auto tranny is freaking HUGE in comparison to the D auto tranny.
In a nutshell it is a stupid idea, and unless you like ruining a perfectly nice Civic I'd not try the auto swap.

Yes, even the Accord tranny is huge. It's a tight fit in the Accord not to mention a Civic. In short like was said, it won't work.

To everyone who has put in some input to this subject thank you. Maybe I will just put a B16 in it for her and she will be happy, its gonna be a daily driver for awhile anyways so we have time until the stock D16B7 bites the dust. Need to get my CRX back together so I can kick a lil *** in K-Town this spring and summer. Holla!
