get a cheap ebay CAI, good exhaust, and start with springs. Don't get a header cause you need save for a turbo manifold anyways right?

^ deffinitly an ignorent and abrasive comment for an easy noob Question its people like you, who have made this board Worse then its ever been.
As for the kid who asked the question...
Start off with a Nice CAI (cold Air Intake), Cat back exhaust, and then do maybe some Tein HA's with some KYB's and get some Ebay Strut bars, should throw you in the right direction. If your into Body kits and show Componets this prolly isn't the best board to get info on the matter unless its JDM OF COURSE! lol.

You guys are awesome, thanks for your advice. I have already started looking into the mods. you guys are great, but there is always one.
As for reveji comment ". . . run it into a large stationary object at high speed". I will try it, if you are the stationary object.

revej1, bro why are you talking about holding hands with guys. dude what ever you do on your time, keep it to yourself. but I'm gonna have to pass. You can go solo, hey the more hands for you to hold. have fun, yuck!!
Seriously, put struts/springs/tires/wheels on it (maybe sway bar, brace, etc too) and call it a day as it will be fun to drive.

Do suspension upgrades first then worry about other things ie. intake/header/exhaust.
It all really depends on what your plans are for the car....but once you start modding it, it will be hard to stop.

Actually just leave it stock since the i/h/e mods will be costly and not give you much of a gain. Do the suspension and get some wheels and call it a day. Don't waste big $ on a chrome muffler - just slap on a $20 glasspack and the sound won't sound much different then the expensive mufflers.
I would never put i/h/e on that car. It's easy to put together a suspension that makes you happy and rewards you the harder you push, and very difficult to ever be satisfied with how fast the car is.
I say, GC coilovers, konis, ST swaybars maybe? and some nice 15's with Azenis. Carbotechs for the front brakes and new fluid, Motul 600 or ATE TYP200.
Leave the engine completely stock unless you're going to turbo it. Turboing the D16's isn't a bad way to make some acceptable power, and it's cheap. You'll be 40% into the money for an okay turbo setup if you buy a bunch of new bolt-ons.

^^^ that's the best advice yet.
buying an intake and header is a complete waste of money on a d series motor, unless you decide to build it na and get one of those $500 bisi headers or something of the like. you better have some seriously DEEP pockets if you want to stay na, and even then, a turbo setup for 1/3 of the cost will still most likely be faster. the only way you can go fast for a reasonable amount of money with the d is some form of forced induction.
you'll need an exhaust, but i'd hold off on that until YOU know what you're doing; there are some things you need to learn about exhaust systems, before you purchase the wrong one for your personal application.
take care of your suspension, brakes and traction, then figure out going fast. turbo the d, or swap something else in? your decision... do your homework and choose wisely.

Since you have absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever, here's a serious post to dab those tears from your eyes:
What do you want to do with your car? I think that is the most important question that you need to ask yourself before you put down a single dollar for mods. Do you drag race? Are you planning on autocrossing? Is this your daily driver?
If you plan on drag racing, welcome to the land of diminishing returns. It takes quite a bit of money to go fast in a Honda, no matter what people tell you (junkyard turbo, etc). Your best options to get more than +10whp (bolt ons), aside from nitrous oxide, is either a motor swap or a turbo. The Greddy kits run about $1500 and will put you about where a b16a swap would.
If you plan on upgrading the suspension, you need to specify what conditions your car's going to be seeing. Are the roads in your area in decent condition? Are you going to whine if your suspension's too rough? SiLooksStock's recommendation is excellent because, although it may cost a bit more money up front, it will save you a lot of cash and many headaches later. You can order Ground Control coilovers direct and specify the spring rates to suit your needs, plus you have ride height and shock adjustability.

RevEJ1- you know what dude, you're alright after all, I appoligize bro, I took your comment wrong, you and everyone else here have some great info and given me some ideas. this is my first honda, nornally I build old muscle cars, but wanted to step in to the unknown and see what this honda can do. I will start with suspention first and CAI, since it will be a corner carver, then maybe a turbo. you guys are awesome,......... Anyone know about the check egnine light, according to the code and book my O2 sencor is bad, new one is $200
Search...
Here on this board you will find that your best bet is going to be to search...theres over 100+ threads thats been covered in mods you can do to your car with reasonable prices. For d-series engines and b-series.

You might consider which class you'd like to run in before you start modding.
GS (G-stock): shocks, drop-in air filter, catback, stock wheels, any front anti-roll bar.
STS (Street Touring Sedan): I/H/E/FPR/UDP/SS, shocks, springs/coilovers, F&R anti-roll bars, any size wheel, any tire 225mm or less in width with a 140+ wear rating.
DSP (D-Street Prepared): all STS mods + intake manifold (think ITB's), Clutch, Flywheel, LSD, any size wheel, r-compound tires, and I *believe* you can lose the catalytic converter.
. . . Or you could do whatever you want, turbo, cams, etc. and just run in SM (Street Modified)
