I have a 91 hatch with a JDM SOHC Vtec. I just put a new tranny on from a 91 DX 4 door, and now my speedometer doesnt work. I am gettin a VSS code and I know that is the Speed Sensor code, but the older trannys use a cable type method.

My question is, is there a clip or something inside the small hole that the cable slide into that may have come out prior to my installing this tranny, because i have changes the cable only to find that the previous one was in perfect working order. Also, i checked both the connection on the back of cluster, and at the tranny itself, and it seems to be in tact, although, the connection at the tranny seems kinda loose, which is why I wondered about a clip of some sort. there is a clip. i dont have one on mytranny right now and my speedo works perfect. try to shove the cable a little farther down.

 

ther is a clip! and make sure it sits right up!

 

How do I get the thing that holds the speedometer cable in the transmission to go in to the transmission?
