Development Complete for Type R #547
After nearly four years of owning this amazing vehicle the modification process has ended. I’ve done quite a bit her and it seems like now is a good time to stop. The car remains well balanced in the performance area and I’m very satisfied with the aftermarket parts currently on the car. With 70,000 miles it continues to impress with its rock solid reliability.
This summer I will be purchasing a new sports car to accompany the Type R – not quite sure what that will be yet. I’ve been busy with work so there has not been much time to visit Honda-Tech. Just wanted to say hello and post a few pictures for old time’s sake. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

I look foward to the next car you get, as i know it will be more detailed in history than this one, if thats possible.

Yes, I am back to the stock shocks/springs. The Mugen suspension was simply too harsh for real world conditions (Wisconsin/Chicago roads anyway). Not to mention the dynamics of the car were all thrown off with the lower stance and more extreme camber. After going back you realize how good it was in the first place.
I liked the look of the car when it was lowered but that's not important when you sacrifice performance and ride quality.

Haha, that's a possiblity however I'm really dissapointed that the Elise did not use the B18C5 instead of the Celica motor. This should not make that much of a difference since the Toyota motor makes about the same power and has good reliablity... but it does. Nearly $40k for a slightly improved Celica GT-S motor - I don't know. Yeah, people could say the same thing about the Type R motor but you guys know what I mean.

I find that I like the stock ITR suspension too for daily driving. It easier to drive on the streets without having to worry about car bump steering all over the place or being unsettled by rough pavement before a turn.

True, but a good, strong damper really makes the ride much more tollerable. I never felt the lowdowns were very good around town for some reason, but having driven other Rs around with stiffer springs and stronger dampers... I'd say there are some other choices besides the stock suspension, even on our crappy IL/WI roads.
Anyhoo... nice pics as usual

But it was still a nice bonus...
