Well here is the story I had Tein SS installed in my car about 3 weeks ago two days ago I start to here this clunking sound when I drive so this morning on my way to work I the noise is really bad. WHen i got to work I looked under the car to see if I saw anything the result of that was nothing I look in the trunk to my complete suprise the left coilover isnt there. the only thing that is there is the nut and the mount. By this time I am truly pissed so I call a friend who is a mechanic he comes out to my job and pulls out the coilover and installs it properly by this time I notice the coilover is shot. Now my question is what should I do
go back to the shop, and make them buy u a new set
is there any warranties on the coilovers? or did the shop have warranties for installing it?

Sounds like they didn't put all the washers back on. A reputable shop will replace the coilover THEY broke.
I'm still trying to figure out why in the hell you would let a dumbass shop install them and not your friend..
All these posts about shops ****** up and people STILL bring stuff to shops? and coilovers at that? cmon man thats a half hour job. 14mm and a 17mm is all u need.

Half hour job?? I think not. Not that tough of a job to do, but honestly, I would say longer than 30 minutes a corner unless you have multiple people working and not taking any brakes.

I can swap out the shock/strut assemblys in 15-20 minutes a side, i just jack one side up and do both the front and back at the same time. I dont see whats so hard about it. and thats with hand tools
remember he got full coilovers so u dont have to **** with a spring compressor or anything.

much longer than a half hour job especially if they are original struts took me three days due to the fact that the bushings had bonded themselves to the bolts i had to cut out the bushings and use a dremel to kill the bushings outer ring, remove them from the trailing arm and the LCA and buy new every thing for the rear suspension ....... I THINK THATS RIGHT?????
well im in florida so i dont have the problem with siezed bolts....and yes 30 minutes not including jacking the car up and ****. the backs is 2 bolts on the bottom and the 2 up top and your done, the front is almost as easy. then again ive takin my shocks in and out of my cars like 30 times so i got it down to a pattern.
some shop have DUMB mechanic
and they dont know ****!!!
last time my rear lca bolt was frozed/rusted, I try to see if those stupid mechanic could torch it out for me and they say that I can not simply replace the bolt and sleeve/bushing. They told me that I'll need a whole new shock with a whole new lca... so...quickly I told him, you guys suck (you guys should of see the look on his face, when I told him they suck)
and then I step out of the stupid shock/alightment shop and done the replacement on my own!!

Screw shops...... I'd rather take on a job I can't handle and **** my car up all on my own, that way there's no one left to blame but my own stupid ***.
I think you guys forget that not everybody is able to work on cars and possess vehicle "know-how" like a lot of H-T members. sometime taking it to a shop is a good decision but.....

just sayin springs and **** are about as easy as it gets. it might not take him a half hour but its definately doable.
when i first bought my eh2 i went to a local shop and had my tein ss installed.....the next day i was hearing a knocking noise and was freakin out.....it turned out that the top bolt was not tightened to spec and that they fucked up with the washer order.....i was pissed as **** but i ended up gettin it all figured out......from then on i decided to get **** done myself and if it occurs, **** **** up myself.=no one to blame....thats all i gotta say.
yeah i suck at working on cars, but i think i'm a lot better than some people that get paid. when i first started out, it took me and my retarded friend over 3 hours to install a damn intake
. after working on my own for about 3 months, i've learned a lot, assembled a decent collection of tools, and feel confident enough to tackle anything - provided i have the tools, and a manual so i know what i'm doing and getting into.
get a helms manual and some tools and start changing your oil etc yourself. as long as you're a little bit intelligent, can follow directions, be patient, and pay attention to detail - pretty soon you'll figure it out. **** going to a shop, and paying money just to have them do it wrong anyways.

If you do it by yourself, you will learn something and save some money. I'd just take the car back and speak with manager/supervisor about this issue.

The stock upper mount is reused with the SS, so they probably did have to disassemble it.

Touche...I competely forgot about that. Either way, no need for a spring compressor. Just lay it down on the ground, put a towel over it, have your friend stand on it, then loosen the nut. Works for me. Spring compressor is safer though.
