Default Power steering question

First off, I would like to introduce myself. I recently purchased a 93 dx w/ a B16. Its quick, nimble and quite enjoyable to drive.

However, once the car comes to a stop and it is time to parallel park, the fun stops. I know that some people like the "no-PS" mod because of increased road feel and extra horsepower but I feel that those benefits do not out-weigh straining myself everytime i have to park, which is a lot. So my noOb question is: With the motor/chassis setup that I have, what parts do I need to power steering and approx. how much can i expect to pay. Thanks in advance everyone.

93 DX's suppose to come with PS. Mine does. The previous owner of your ride prolly took it out.

I thought auto DX's had PS only. atleast for hatchbacks.

I think he knows that... I don't know what parts you need, but you should search for a thread that shows you how to take it out because it might help you. Read it in reverse =D.

Thanks for your input. I was planning to do just that once I sourced the parts. However, the fact remains that I still need to know what parts to source. Do I get the power steering pump/rack from a 93 DX or from a 2000 Civic SI because of the B16 motor?

Well, that may be true. I had an auto DX now swapped with a B18C1 swap + manual tranny. So it may be possible to add a PS system onto his existing setup. Components he'll need from a 92-95:

1.) Reservoir
2.) Valve control unit
3.) Power steering pressure switch
4.) Pump

Am I missing something?

Thank you all for your input. Although your information is very valuable, I feel that I need it spelled out for me. Specifically, what I need and from what car or Motor. I am just getting a lot of information and I do not know if the parts you guys are speaking are specific in regards to the car or the motor. Thanks again.

you'll need the RACK, pump, pump bracket, resoviour, high pressure line, return line, sensor, belt, brackets to bolt the lines to frame, all bolts, and maybe subframe (i'm not sure on this one). i'm sure there's a few things i forgot

just keep your ps, and start lifting some weights. seriously... i wish i had manual steering. ps is for old people

You can use the power steering components from any 92-95 civic that's equipped with them (assuming you'll gather the parts individually). Here, hope this helps

Thank you~!! That is all I wanted to hear. However, isnt the "rack" specific to the motor and not the chassis?

The Power Steering is part of the steering system, not the engine. Aside from the reservoir, everything is pretty much internal. I have a B18C1 and using my stock power steering.

Most weight-reducing obssessive peeps will tell you it's a waste of $ and adds "unnecessary" weight to your ride.

i can't believe you're really gonna add this crap to your car. have fun wasting money, adding weight, and going slower just so you only need one hand to turn the wheel when stopped.

sorry, i'm drunk as hell and going to bed
