Default Timing Belt Change - cam gear mark alignment?

89 accord LXi -changing timing belt. Got the crank at TDC and can see the flywheel mark aligned with the pointer. According to Haynes the 2 marks on the cam gear should align with the head surface. My confusion is since the head is slanted this means the marks will be slanted, which seems to cause the "Up" cam gear mark to also slant, not point vertical, as Haynes says it should. Question is am I seeing things, do I align the cam gear marks with the head or level with the gound? thanks for any help.
