Hey, i was thinking of buying something really nice. I really want a itr but i also want a s2000. I want a car that is really fun to drive and handle's awesome. I have driven a s2000 and loved it but havent driven a itr. I was just wondering what you guys thought was a better car for someone who just loves to drive.

Two totally different cars.

I own an Integra (GSR which is gutted and faster than a bone stock ITR) and a S2000. I say S2000. You really need to drive both though.

One car is FWD, one is RWD. One is a coupe, the other is a convertable. 2 seater vs 2+2. Apples and oranges.

ITR..

The S2k Is a great car, don't get me wrong. and I plan on owning one someday.

The ITR is cheaper to maintain mod/and easier to drive fast, assuming you are accustomed to FWD platforms. The ITR will also hold it's value much better than the S.

The only drawback w/the R is theft

s2000 is the true sports car RWD > *

ITR is good for people who are scared of oversteer

I said this on S2ki and they wanted to kill me. LOL.

ITR responds better to mods, I'll give it that. It will cost less money per HP with an ITR.

yes good calls, I now have a del sol so i know the feeling of a 2 seater. That is really the only thing you can compair of my car and the s2k.
I do not know what I want yet, I do love to see the rare itr though. I may just see which one i can get a better deal on.
Seems like s2000's are hard to mod, and the b series reacts so well to boltons.

Default does this help

I've owned both as you can see in my sig. As many people have stated they are very different vehicles, but I'm somewhat torn on which I like better. Here is why:

ITR

Pro's
Slightly cheaper than S2000
Fantastic out of the box for a FF
Very fast on road course
Cheaper to mod
Responds to mods better
Used parts abundant
Hatch gives you lots of space
Great resale value

Con's
Theft and vandalism
Getting messed with by every ricer on the road

S2000

Pro's
Handles like a dream
Looks great (panty dropper! )
Convertible
Low theft/vandalism
HID's stock
Interior ergonomics

Con's
Rear-end will bite you if not respected!
Expensive to mod
Minimal gains from mods
Lot of blind-spots with top up
Lack of carrying capacity (if daily driver)
Re-sale is seasonal (hard to sale a convert. in winter)

Insurance was about the same for either in my case. The ITR did get a little better gas mileage.

While some people may or may not agree with response, this is MY OPINION on the two cars. I use to track my ITR quite a bit, but have yet to get the S2K on track for other than low speed touring laps. I really love the car, but since it is my daily driver I'm very torn on what to do with it. Probably try to buy another daily and keep the S2K for sunny fun!

Just to reiterate the above quote " the rear end will bite you if not respected"

I owned my DC2 for 4 years and it was plenty fast, I used to bitch slap that car around like nothing else. I owned it!

My AP1 however is a whole other story- I have only had it for leass than a month but honestly the car scares me. With even the slightest amount of water or ice on the ground the car feels like it canbreak loose of traction at any given moment. i can't imagine the '04 model with it's lower powerband in bad weather.

I looked into both cars after my 2000 Si was stolen and totaled.

Both cars are great values for the money and what you get from them.

Honestly the Type R was a bit of a let down though. It was louder and less civilized than I thought it should be (this was a 2000 that I drove, one owner car). The gear box was noisy (might have been the LSD) and on the highway I figured it should be faster for the amount of road noise it was making.

The S2000 is a more refined and dedicated driving machine. Yeah it doesn't have the ability to haul stuff the way the ITR does with the hatch, but it's so much more fun to drive.

Both cars have great gear boxes, but the S2K is probably the best shifting car on the face of the earth. And certainly for under 50K.

In the end I bought an 04 S2K.

Damn, I love the S2000 its soooooo fun to drive. But as a daily driver I dunno. Only a 2 seater, and basically you can only fit a towel in the trunk. It kinda does suck with the top up, you can't see ****.
But yea, like everyone else said, 2 different cars. I guess whatever your needs are. But hey, they go good together! Get both! ITR as your daily driver and the S2000 you drive everytime u want an erection.

I think a towel is a slight exaggeration. Do you want to retract that statement?

p.s. You can see more with previous models (plastic rear window) than the glass rear window.

The trunk on the S2K is actually pretty usefull. It can hold a ton of groceries, weekend bags for two, and I even got the stock rear section exhaust from my old Si in there, along with a box that held the stock rear swaybar from the Civic.

No the MR-S Spyder, that car has a trunk big enough to hold a towel.

Do you also realize that the car has NO sound deading material and was stiffened ?
and those are two of the many reasons why the car is what it is, and why it does so well?

I agree - the trunk on the S2k is of very reasonable size considering the rest of the car.

What do you want to do with either your ITR or S2k? After I wrecked my civic, I wanted another car. At first I considered getting another Civic - swapping in all my parts...... but then I realized I was just going to dump lots of money again into another Civic.

I finally decided on the S2k because I wanted a sweet car, that looks great, and I don't have mess with to have fun. I can autox in a stock class, and then go to a nice restuarant afterwards

Well, I am a 98ITR owner who is about to start looking for a S2000. My insurance is going down (from 98'ITR to 00'S2000) by about 400.00 a year. I've always wanted a convertible and the S2000 seems to be just right for my situation.

All it took was 1 test drive in a fellow HT's S2000 and I was sold.

Having had both for 25K miles on each, I'd have to say:

It all depends.

I wouldn’t buy another convertible in Washington State - too few opportunities to really enjoy it.
The ITR is going to have more utility with the hatch, race tires and gear to the track, parts are “cheaper” – but you have to worry about haters, ricers and theft.
The S2000 is a great looking car, plenty fast, RWD with great steering feedback – trunks is great for weekend trips and what not.
If I had to do it again, I would have kept the ITR – but the M3 is slowly making up for it

My 2 cents.

it seems to be the s2k can be a handfull for most drivers, while I love this car especially the new one regaurdless of the engine however.

not to be presumptuous but if you are really asking this question most likely you would enjoy an ITR far more as it is "the best handling FWD car ever"

Uhh..did it stiffen the chassis also? No. Thats the main reason sports cars are usually not verts.
