Time to consult the HT guys again. I am in the process of planning my setup now and will be using 1 or 2 Infinity KAPPA 120.3SE 12" subs, but i have no idea as to what i should use to power these. They claim to have a peak power of 1200 watts. Can anyone help me out? Thanks guys

I'm running an alpine v-12 mrv-t320 2 channel amp to power my infinity kappa 12, i have it in a 1.0 cubic foot sealed box and it sounds pretty good. it isn't much power, only 220 watts rms bridged at 4 ohms. i paid 188 with tax at hifi buys for it because they were running a sale. normally it goes for 199 without tax.

Peak power and RMS are two different things. What you want is an amp that'll put out the recommended (or a little less) RMS power to those subwoofers. I looked it up for you and those subwoofers only take 300 RMS a piece.

So if your going to go with two of them and they're single 4ohm coils then your dropping the impedance to 2ohms. So what you need to look for at this point in time is an amplifier that will put out 600rms @ 2ohms..the JBL 600.1 would be a good place to start IMO. http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/186

Though if your going to be spending about 80$ per woofer I'd suggest something a little better. Personally i'd go with Two kicker comp VR's in 12" off of here. http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1693

Then just go to soundomain...price match it and you'll be laughing with free shipping and two great subwoofers. Remember though...the CVR's are dual voice coil so you'll need two dual 2ohm kickers in order to get a final impedance of 2 ohm.

Either way...let me know what you want to do and where you want to go with the setup..ill be glad to help

The infinities are good choices I had a 12" also, best damn $30 I spent on Ebay ever. Mine was in a sealed box and only took about 250 RMS. I would suggest getting a single channel 2ohm amp. JBL bp.600 comes to mind. (I have the 1200 and love it)
