Do accords normally bend the valves when the timing belt breaks ? I'm a civic guy so I have no clue, just asking for a friend....

I thought that accords 90+ were interference. I'm not totally sure. Did your friend **** his motor or something?

Yea, he told me that his "retired macanic" told him that he just needed a new timing belt, and I told him that chances are that he's looking at paying the piper for not maintaining his car properly, but he was supposed to do the belt yesturday, so I'll find out tonight.

Anyone got the proper head to replace the one he busted up for a 96' accord LX for sale ?

My Mercury tracer broke a belt "back in the day", but didn't bend the vlaves, my focus despite being a POS isn't a interference engine, and my civic actully got away with throwing the crank pulley off, leading to the timing belt coming off and didn't bend the valves ( insanely lucky, I know ). My stealth wasn't so lucky, but that was before I bought it and the reason I got it sooo cheap, of course it cost me $1500 to replace the valves with the ones I wanted ( not including gaskets and dong the work myself ). Mistu told me $3200.00 to replace my Stealth's valves with stock ones again !!

 

the other day i went to get an oil change the guy said i need a new timing belt he says its required every 90k miles i think he said u better do it fast or else it will come off and the entire engine will *** its self up
