Default ls/vtec help

i got a ls/vtec set up 95 ls block stock and a 97 gsr head. Oil lines and everything is run. The vtec activates but the car is slow as fvck! I'm running it in a 95 ls integra and i can't even beat my frens in stock 90 ls integras. The vtec activates but the car doesn't move it's just a noise machine. The vtec hits, the car screams, but doesn't really move anywhere. Any ideas what could be the problem.

Oh i'm also running a p72, headers, cold air intake, full piping, and a ACT clutch in my stock ls tranny.

Any ideas to fix this i know it's not supposed to be like this.

can't really expect too much with a stock block... you needed to put at least some ITR pistons, some Cams would really help out and the LS tranny is also killing you

word, throw some cams in there even ITRs with cam gears, tune it, you'll notice a big difference.

what u have basically is a stock motor still (even w/ that vtec head); up the compression and a pair of bigger cams and you'll really be moving

Check out the power differences in these ls/v set ups.....

the first one is with stock everything....

and heres a mildy modded set up........

Now every motor is different, but this set up gained almost 50hp just from cams, pistons, a header, tuning, and hondata. Not bad at all IMO.

I definitely see what you are saying but what year LS is his it might have different gearing. You could try advancing your timing a little. I had a problem a while back with my ls/vtec when vtec kicked in there was no power but it sounded like it was kicking in. It turned out that my b&m fpr was faulty. If you have an after market one try swapping it with a stock one. My 2 cents.

this sounds kinda like what i'm experiencing. Vtec kicks in but the car lags. maybe i'll switch fpr with my fren to test it i'm running a stock one right now.

I raced a 95 LS integra both of us driving in second gear on the freeway, stomped the gas and i straight up got murdered. stock LS vs LS/vtec with mods, LS wins thats not right.

well its the fact of the matter, sure theres most likely an intake on there and other mods, but the motor still makes much more power when modded.
