Default B18C1 Head Q's.. Dowel Pin Placement + headgasket... urgent help!!

hey guys, got the urge to put my motor back together. I think I am having a brain fart tonight, so I thought Id ask for help..

anyways - where are the dowel pins for the head supposed to be located, exhaust or intake side..? And are supposed to sit inside the holes flush or not?

Headgasket - Is there any special direction to have it on. I have it facing right side up [says "UP" on intake side] is this correct??

please help!! im we-todd-did!

Dowel pins do not sit flush. The whole purpose of the dowel pins is to line up the head, block, and head gasket. The head gasket goes in with the "up" up obviously, and the silver tab that says "P30" on the transmission side of the engine, towards the front. The head gasket will also tell you where the dowel pins go, only two holes in the gasket big enough for them.
