99 Accord EX Auto 50,000 having shifting problem. Any thoughts?!?
My 99 Accord will rev 2-3 x1000 rpm in first gear and then shift on its own once it reaches about 3000 rpm. When it shifts it is shifting hard. I noticed if I release on the accel. when it is ready to shift, as if it were a manual, it will not shift as hard or rev as high. This makes no sense to me!!
The Honda Dealer mech. mentioned he had another person come in a week prior and complain of the same problem.... it ended up being a transmission problem!!
If this is the case, Im not sure what kind of trans honda is making but I will have something to take up with the manufacture directly. 3 yr old car, 50,000 miles, and a bad tran!!! NOT NICE
Any suggestion???

I think powertrain warranty is about 60K miles. If I were you, I'd either dog the tranny to make it die in time for the warranty or drive it only when necessary.

CAREFUL on your advice ... your are only partially right. Only SOME of the 1999 Hondas have the extension on the transmission. The actual extension was originally on 2000 and up ... but Honda reissued it .. BUT ... only included certain 1999 serial numbers.
You can call your dealer and ask him if he would be kind enough to run your VIN to see if you qualify.

Or you can register your car via the VIN nubmer with Honda's ownerlink and it will tell you if your car is covered by the extended warranty. Go to http://www.hondacars.com and register your car under "owner link" If you car is covered under one of the recalls it will be listed once you register.

That is very good advice ... that is a sure way of making sure you are heads up on ANY recalls etc that may occur on your vehicle.
