Not true.
I think some dealers made that up.

I don't know anyone with a 97 that did get this certificate.

From what I heard, from someone that got one after buying his 97 ... is that this was handled by a promotion/publicity company, and that you had to fill out some form or paperwork you got with your car and send it back in order to get one.

Just heresay, but sounded realistic given that the 97 ITRs were hung up due to emissions/US Certification problems which apparently had them sitting on a dock somewhere for several months before being released for sale to the public.

we did get posters and a keychain for turning in a survey from Honda Motor Co though.
