Default should i keep my AC on the B18C EF hybrid?

hey fellas....should i keep my AC on my B18C CRX?...the guy is just finishing my swap right now and he said that hes gonna get the AC to fit...i originally was gonna just leave it off cuz i didnt wanna pay more and i was looking at the performance perspective to begin with...now im kinda wanting to keep my AC since summers here are around the century mark...im gonna be driving this car probably 50% of the time also and its fully stripped...so what do u guys thing?...do the performance benifits of not having AC out weigh being comfortable with AC...tuff one for me to call...and im not sure if im gonna go FI or N/A yet...i asume if i go FI i gotta ditch the AC...

Sure keep it, my Civic Coupe never came with A/C, but now I am planning on getting the Integra A/C put in for comfort...just been putting it off for over 2 years..

I was thinking about buying a CRX and swapping a B18C1 into it, I wouldn't do the swap by myself, so I was wondering how much it should cost me and how long it would take. Also, I hear that it is pretty much a direct bolt in, is this true? Would I have room for a JRSC later on?TIA

no it is not a direct blot in...u need a mounting kit that will bolt in...Hasport and HCP makes em...round$300-500 bucks...u need a 90-93 shift linkage and it will have to be cut and rewelded to fit...or get the hasport version if u are using their mounts(suppose to be got stuff)...u need the gsr ecu or a reprogramed b16a ecu along with the harness and u will stiull need to add a few wires i think for the vtec or something...u also need the axles from a 90-93 teg if ur using the hasport mounts...im pretty sure thats most of the stuff besides a few other lil details...oh yea u need a cable tranny for a b-series motor(y1,ys1,s1) since the gsr will have a hydro tranny on it and crx only have cable...labor cost here here can be anywhere from $500-$1200 bucks...good luck with ur rocket...

Thanks a lot man, I was thinking of doing this but I wasn't sure if it would be too big of a project. It doesn't sound too bad though, so if I got everything that you told me to get and got the swap, would it be drivable from there, or is there still more that I have to do. Does the added weight of the GSR motor mess up the handling much? I guess you havn't actually driven it yet, but let me know when you find out.
Thanks again so much.

Oh yeah, I put on my AEM CAI and my Jacobs Electronic stuff on my own, (I was so suprised that I did the Jacobs stuff by myself because I took of my bumper and bolted the ice pak and toruqer coil directly to the bumper, something that I never thought that I would be capable of.) With the help of someone or ones who know about engine and drivetrain removal, and have a lift, should I be able to do this stuff my self? Just sounds like a way to save some big bucks. (Also, my cousin and I tore down my motorcycle's engine and replaced the main gaskets and got everything back together alright. Does this sound like enough experience to you? How long should it take straight through, hours days, weeks?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure that I really want to do this!

Thanks so much for answering my tedious questions, but I was also wondering about whether or not the car will be able to pass emissions, I should shoudln't it? Do you think you could bolt up an RSX six speed tranny? That would be cool!

from what iv heard weight ot the motor isnt that bad and shouldnt affect handling much...whether u do it or not im not sure...bolting in the motor shouldnt be that bad but i know the wiring will suck...if u have a civic thats a 92-95 iv heard its one of the easiest swaps to do but i have a 90 crx...and its a DX...i have to convert from dual-point to multi-point which is a biatch...thats why im paying someone to do it...and even he is having problems...he said its a big headache...if u have a Si it shoudl be much easier...as for the smog stuff...JDM motors in CA are illegal...but if i remember ur sig correctly then ur not in CA...it most likely is just fine in ur state...emmissions should be fine too...make sure everything is hooked up and u have a good cat...

Thanks for all the great info, I probably will just supercharge my Integera instead however, because I have a lack of time, and more importantly money.

By the way, I would definetly keep the A/C in, just for common curtesy at least. I know I hate it when some one blows past my *** with their arm out the window, then their sweat starts flying onto my windsheild and into my face! That **** will kill your paint.

I am just plain disturbed when it's a girl. "Stress stinks, Aridd works!"
