Default got a noise, can't figure it out

Ok, I have a 94 Accord Ex. If my car is sitting in park or neutral and I rev it to about 2300 there's like a clicking noise coming from the engine. Anything below or above 2300 there's no noise. It does the same thing when I'm driving too. It's not just when I'm sitting still. I had my friend listen to it and he couldn't figure out what it was coming from. I was in an accident last year and when they fixed everything I kinda had the same problem and I took it to the dealer and I guess there was somthing loose. Could that have possibly gotten knocked loose again? I'm not sure what it was though. If any of you have ever had this problem, what was it? Or if you know what the problem is please tell me. I'd like to get this fixed. Thanx in advance.

you might need a valve adjustment......when my car is cold at certain rpms it will make a click...is it coming from the valve cover?, if so your rockers and valve springs are making that clicking......need to get it fixed

Ya, so I just had my valves adjusted because like you, my valves click between 2K and 3K, best heard when accelerating. and they still do it, maybe worse now since the adjustment.
Is this somehting to simply expect from an engine with almost 130K on it??

thanks, sohc

The rockers against the pushrod and the springs are what usually rattle, sometimes even after readjusting it will still make a slight noise, mine does but only when its cold, you may want to replace the springs, pushrods etc, just due to old parts and if your doing that you might as well pull the engine and or swap it just my 2 pennies.

automatic or manual?

if it's automatic, it could be the rear mount control solenoid trying to switch over and can't. long shot though, because those usually don't mess up, unless they're messed up in a wreck.

more than likely you just need a valve adjustment.

I have a simular sound too, but it's different. It comes only after a long drive and I can only hear it in neutral between 2-3 grand. Any idea guys?

Its got to be plain and simple valve trian wear... THat is, if it doesnt go away after a valve adjustment. The question is, replace the racks? or just drive with it? any big risks to waiting until somehitng breaks?
