Does mixing rubbing alchohol with gas help pass smog?
When my 90 Teg refused to pass emmissions, I dumped a gallon of lacquer thinner in the gas tank (being careful not to spill on the paint) and it passed with flying colors.
Don't know what damage is possible by doing this, but it worked on a car I could give two ***** about.

actually the thinner you are referring to is in most octane boosters so yes your correct in that it will help, but as for just dumping in some unknown amount to your tank is not very good, for there are many other chemicals that are needed to run safely. So dont do it

a bottle of rubbing acohol has been a trick to pass emissions for many years now.
*edit, btw, why is this in the ITR forum MR. 92 accord>?

I am not flaming by any means. I just want to state my point a little clearer.
I know what you guys are saying on this, but if you read my last line, I said

It was a 90 Integra that was on it's last legs. My only concern was to get it to pass emissions one last time so it could last me a few more monts. Well, it passed and ran fairly well for over a year and a half before I sold it.
I just wanted to offer what once worked for an old beater I had and I specifically stated that I did not know what damage could be done. Moral of the story is "don't just do something to your car because you heard about it on the internet. Research it first to see if there will be any harm, then decide."

ok, i hate to base things off TV but in the Mischief 3000 video the 800whp skyline (wasn't it 800, oh well, irrelevent) was tanking up with fuel at a gas station and while filling up he also poured the contents of a bottle that looked like a lighter fluid metal bottle/can. it was black in color is all i remember. was that toluene? i've heard mixed opinions on this as far as an octane booster.... cananyone elaborate on this?
