Default wanna make my Type R RHD any Help? please.

Ok. I own a what used to be 99 GSR 4door now its a 99 GSR 4door with every thing including engine, suspension, wheels, steering wheel, interior and spoiler. the only things that are not Type R is the tranny due to it getting stolen out of my garage before I installed it and I left my moldings on my doors due to crazy mall shopping carts that go crazy in the high winds in Cali but every thing else is there so basicly its an "R" but people begg to differ due to the U.S. never making a 4 door R. I was wondering if any one new whats involved in making it RHD WITHOUT having to cut and weld a new front clip on? I was told its possible but before I go searching I wonder if any of you know? I will be getting my JDM front conversion with HID from the same place I got ALL my JDM R products but I dont really wanna get a clip to basiclly cut and past... PLUS... I still need to get rid of my old GSR engine so money is still an issue for me also... Well any advice will help.. Thanx

Easiest might be to have a JDM RHD front clip grafted on.
Otherwise you'll have to put in a fresh RHD firewall anyway!

The better question is ... why?

I just wondered what it took to do. I really wanted to give it that Final JDM look. plus you dont really see that much in the states unless you have a hot looking mail lady drive her little RHD mail wagon... I guess with all the negative words Im getting I shouldnt do it right?

You ask why RHD?

ah you'll never be the first to do to it. I know it has been done but its a pain in the ***. Id say put your money somewhere else or buy a car that is already rhd.

sell it and buy a rhd, much cheaper and easier that way.
other than that you need to cut and weld. no way around it.

Yup .. way better off importing a 4 dr R than doing what you wish to do. I bought a JDM 4 dr R and came out of the deal with much more green in my pocket .... plus you don't have to worry about shady work by a bodyshop since it came from the factory that way.

No more, they are not selling the current post office trucks, and the jeeps are long gone. they stopped selling them due to their reasoning of "hard to find parts".

I really wanted one so I did some hunting around before.

It was originally a gsr but I swapped the engine for a Jdm TYpe R and also suspension wheels interior basicly almost anything that could be changed to type R has already been done little things hea and thea but for the most part its thea, the only thing that holds the gsr name is the title and of course it has a sunroof but besides that if you see it you know what it is even though I will not sit and lie and not tell ya it WAS a gsr.

HEY R #189... I saw that car on ebay once I thought of getting it (well I think its the same one) The only thing Im worried about from importing a 4 door R from Japan is the whole smog and crap like that I want to be able to register it hea in Cali or even NY and still pass the smog inspections ive been told it would be cheaper to just convert to RHD than to legalize a Jap Car in The U.S

ITR21... I'm not saying I would be the first to do it I would just be the first on my block.. By block is pretty big and Ive only seen this at car shows and mags and twice at the track.

DK127.. It never suprises me on what weird things us Marines look for. I take it your a Marine also just by your Eagle Globe and Anchor if your just a Fan and not a Marine Semper Fi.. anyway!! We love fans too

Your car isn't a Type R. You can't say it WAS a GSR because it will always be one

Threads similar to this one always cause me to imagine an opposite scenario. If someone was driving around with a theft-recovered ITR that had had its interior, drivetrain and suspension stolen and replaced with leather, a C1 and a 4-lug setup (which has been known to happen to varying degrees), would that individual tell people that it "used to be" an ITR, but now it's a GS-R?

no it will still be a type r, just not put back together properly.

insurance company, dmv, law enforcement agency, dealer, repair shop, and smog station will always determine the make and model of your car by the registration and vin number of the car. so even if you replaced eveything on a acura integra ls down to the last nut and bolts, from a jdm honda integra type r. that does not make it a honda integra type r, its still a acura integra ls but only upgraded or modified.
