My girl's bother is searching for a car, he wanted a 4runner, but I suggested that, because of the way he drives, chances are that he would flip it. So I suggested to him a Prelude. Now I am looking for one for him. Because I know nothing about them, I was wondering if you fine fellers could telll me what there is to know about them pertaining to our situation. I.E. Pros, cons, reliability, features, models, etc. I'm sure you get the idea. So if you wouldn't mind, have at it. Oh, he has about 16 G's to spend.

get him a civic ex auto, good on gas, will not flip, and with 16 g to spend he will have money left over to buy a simple set of wheels and lower it and be happy

okay..let's start from scretch, if your friend need a car that haul a 3rd or 4th person, please dont buy a lude.

there's no room in the back, I am not tall or big by any means but it's still pretty hard to get stuffed in the back. more room than a mini or 2rd gen eclipse but by not much at all.


16g, that's sounds like a 99 accord v6 200hp auto, leather ex, all power, moon roof, 16inch alloy rims, abs, all luxury item included.

 

Look guys, I want to know the kinds of things that mainly owners of the car would know. And no he doesn't haul a 3rd or 4th around. Right now, we are lookin at ludes, so please don't suggest other cars. But if you can't help, I guess...well, I dunno.

A 99-01 prelude is good at these points:
* buy a 5-speed base if he is into modding it, i.e.: suspension, intake, exhaust, a different IM and turbo or supercharger.
*don't buy an auto, unless he is willing to do this:
- deal with the honda service manager about your tranny warranty, which BY LAW has to be given to you if your car is from those years.
- drive around at steady speeds, behaving normally and not pushing the car to its limits, unless he has the time in the world to have his car being fixed AT NO COST, if he has that stupid warranty
*don't buy an sh if you are into boosting it, ATTS system will be useless after so much output, or lowering it will give u some atts light flashings once in a while.

I can't think of anything else.

Oh, this is a 2 seater, with a useless backseat. Period.

so, if he is into ******* his g/f in the back, good, because that is the only thing good for....proven.

If he decides for this car, that VTEC engagement sound will make him sign his *** away in about a minute after the test drive. Can't beat that torque.

 

Thank you so much. Now I have a specific question. I have tried lookin on the net but I can't find it. Can someone tell me what the differences are between the base and SH?

 

Base = 5 speed or ss (auto with clutchless shifting: sucky, i own one, but i don't recomend it).

SH = sport handling, it has the ATTS system, which gives you torque to the wheels that lose traction when cornering like a **** and when you look at the puzzled faces of those v8 owners when their rear end dances like a woman when taking a big one up the ***, from side to side.

Leather seats were a commodity on both trims, the base rims were the saw blades as in many of the prelude picture posts: search on that topic.

Sh rims, are five spoke heavier than base rims, but helpful for looks and handling for the stocky guy driver.

Little bit of more cosmetic stuff on the sh as a standard spoiler, emblems, blah, blah minor stuff.

the base is a bit lighter, not much, but with an optional spoiler, and the what not.

Thank you mucho. Well, I have found a 2000 base, with spoiler and leather, 53k miles for 15 G's. I have a feeling he will be talked down to 12. What do you think of that? Is it worth it? Oh, and it's white.

 

http://www.edmunds.com will give u a good idea on what it is really worth. I have seen these ******* go for low as 10gs for that mileage.
