Wanting to buy a 04 RSX-S need advice
I am in the market to get another Acura and I am looking at the RSX-S. I am wondering how well do they hold up? I will be keeping it pretty much stock and I am wondering how much noise seeps through into the cabin? Does it rattle after some time? Any-e-way just looking for some advice on what to do and what to look for. Thanks Dan

I am also looking at a WRX which is abut the same price. Any-e-way I like the turbo of course but I am drawn to the AWD aspect. How do the RSX-S do in the winter? I have a 95 LS that I am going to turn into my track/street demon. I moved back from AZ about 8 months ago and I have decided that Integras suck in the snow with any power mods and performance tires. I want a RSX but I don't want the same problem with driving in snow like with my DC2. And yes I know snow tires will help.
If you want a daily driver that you are going to keep pretty stock a RSX is a great car. Hondas are always to be known as a low maintenance car. I think I still that wrong. But I've driven a WRX and it's nice as well. But I can't tell you how well WRXs hold up.
the prices of wrx and rsx type s are totally different. rsx type s 04 will cost you about 22 grand. after taxes and everything it should be around 24-25k. On the other hand, wrx will cost you about 25k to start. i have an rsx type s. I love my baby. sweet ride. nice interior

thank god. i remember in CA a wrx wagon was priced at 23000 or 24000 or so if u shop around. i think 4wd TURBO 220hp that can spank a rsx off the line, on the track, around dirt, in snow, in rain, what other conditions will u be driving it in?
i figure once u get the car.. u'll drop money left and right to make it into a
TYPE-R looker.. or "JDM" looking.. i think with a wrx u can drive it STOCK and be happier. thats my advice. don't buy a type-r's retarded brother..
its not worth the money anymore.. have u looked into the MAZDASPEED PROTEGE..
that beast can almost rip a type-r up. on handles alone that car is SURPRISING.
theres just so many cars around the 22~25 tag that makes it stupid to pick a celica gt-s OR a rsx type-s.. btw.. the mazda speed protege comes stock with racing beat sway bars... umm mp3 headunit(like a pioneer or something AFTERMARKET looking) the sound system is amazingly good. and the car is fast as ****.. don't get a rsx. that's my advice. i'm sure plenty of rsx owners are gonna reply and tell me how i dont know what im talking about.. or how i'm stupid.
the mazdaspeed will KILL the rsx.. and i believe it goes for 21..

goto that site for mazdaspeed protege info... that car is badass... VERY VERY goodbuy for the money. check out FEATURES.. that thing comes stock with parameter alarm.. a fancy KENWOOD(not pioneer my bad), Potenza RE040, Racing Beat tuned independent strut type front and rear suspension featuring larger front & rear stabilizer bars with Tokico dampers STANDARD BUDDY.
U DO THE MATH.. for the same price. u can get TURBO standard.. and maybe 4wd(if u choose a wrx).. they discontinued the celica gt-s.. im waiting for them to do it with the rsx.

First don't like anything Mazda except the RX-7 sorry, I used to be a tech at Scottsdale Acura in AZ and I have had RSX's apart a millions of times. So I very familiar with the car inside and out. To tell the truth I did not like the RSX at first. I can still remember when the truck pulled into our lot with the New RSX's. I thought they looked ok but i still was fond of the Integras. So in doing the safety inspection and PDI's I was impressed with the seats not to bad but not great also. I do remember replacing a billion radio's/6-disc changers. CD's were always getting stuck. I am not sure if they still do that. Basically I am trying to see how the do in the snow? I have never gotten to drive one in the snow due to AZ not getting snow. I live in CO now and it does snow here. Thats and a turbo is why the AWD WRX is so appealing to me. Power, speed, grip, and all year fun does sound good, but I am still a Honda Man for life. I did just buy a 2003 Honda 954RR motorcycle and boy I don't care what its racing nothing will ever keep up. But I can't ride it in the snow, oh well. So to all that drive in the snow how does it do?

Comparing the WRX and RSX is a total waste of time. My boss has a WRX and I have a 2k4 RSX. With the WRX, the midrange power is incredible. At the same time, once I hit 6 grand on the RSX, I can keep right with him and even pull a little bit on him around 120.
He now has 25k miles on the WRX and it is holding up quite well, a few squeaks and rattles, but nothing major. My RSX has about 4k miles on it, but my friend has a 2k2 with 35k on his. To drive the 2 of them, they are almost identical. The only real difference being my syncros are bad and his are fine.
We have had 2 nice snows this season so far, one about 8 inches and the other about 13. The RSX did as good in the snow as any front wheel drive car I have ever driven. The WRX is of course far superior in the snow and rain with the AWD.
One last huge difference between the 2 is gas milage. Mike gets about 21 or 22 average in his WRX while I am up to about 30 or so.
I just sold my 88 civic with 238k miles on it last year... it was still going strong. My 91 teg has 120 or so on it of really really rough miles... again still runs strong... How many subarus do you see turning in that kind of milage on a car?

Actually, there a lot of Subaru's with that kind of mileage its just not a performance Subaru. The only Subaru's people look at now are the WRX's. I know there has not been alot of snow this year so far but I did live in CO for 20 years before AZ. It can and does snow bad here. As for gas mileage yes the RSX will get better but turbo your RSX and there goes your gas mileage to 20-24 MPG. As far as performance a Lightly modded Subaru will rape your RSX-S. I am having trouble deciding because I have fallen in love with Honda's. But factory turbo, AWD, warranty are nice also. You can't turbo a RSX and keep your warranty. SO many hard choices. I also like the WRX's 4 doors as getting in and out of a 2 door can be a pain.
I just got the new 04' RSX-S. I love it. Just got above 100 miles in it, but it's a great car for daily driving. The noise level in the cabin is very mild. You can hear the purr of the motor, but then when I have my music on just a little bit the sound is gone. I am not sure what they are going for in the dealerships, I am lucky to have my dad in the car business and got mine for 100 over cost. Best of luck to you. -Shawn
The WRX is good. Don't get an 02 because they have kincks in them.... How ever the WRX fit and finish isn't up to Acura specs in any way... It's trim pieces may have some rattles but in terms of handeling and performance the WRX get's my vote...
over all the WRX seems like it's a perfect car for you though the RSX isn't a bad choice either.. I've heard of talk about the RSX getting lowered prices at the acura dealer.. Because of less sales in the recent months..
If I were you the mazdaspeed protoge is a
Choice because the Turbo is port installed, that means you have the same motor only turbo charged at the port like the rental cars
.. But it's handeling gets a
vote from everyone.

yep when people sit behind me in my rsx, theres only like 5 inches between the edge of the backseat and the back of my driver seat. the space back there is pretty bad. also there isnt much head room for those who are bigger. im goin to vegas next week for new years, i feel sorry for the chump thats gonna sit behind me

Comparing a WRX to a Type S isn't really logical as far as speed goes..AWD and turbo help it out..A turbo Type S would be the way to go
..but I know you said mostly stock..
So, with that said, I will tell you my RSX S has handled snow very well this year so far, it even surprised me how well it handles snow..
As for MazdaSpeed, they aren't that fast, factory intercooler design sucks!! Nice looking car tho..
Good luck with your buy

they both sticker @ 24k buddy.

look at the performance numbers for the rsx-s and the protege, the rsx has a higher slalom and is just the faster car. The skidpad difference is .01 and the mazda speed protege eeks out the rsx in the road course by less than a second.
Plus, man those guys cannot drive... look at those quarter mile times.
