Hey guys as most of you all know the Prelude has the benefit of the awesome H22a but the weight ratio per horsepower is only a bit better then a GSR since the 5th gen is heavier. I wanted to get some ideas of a streetable diet meaning keeping the seats and cover panels. What would really help is if you guys know the weight on the stock specs and possbile aftermartket ones.
1. Carbon fiber hood...I heard the stock hood is like 50-75 pounds?
2. Taking out spare tire and jack, 10-15 pounds? I have AAA.
3. Replacing stock battery with aftermarket battery? Stock weight and weight of possible replacements?
4. How much does the stock exhaust system weight vs. Greddy,Apexi, etc?
5. Titanium lug nuts vs. steel.
Thats all I can think of. Any suggestions are welcome!

heres what id do different without having to spend money and killing A LOT OF WEIGHT without having to strip interior n' all:
1) take out your AC
2) take out your power steering
3) take out cruise control
4) take out floor mats
5) take out stock floor jack/sparetire
if you want to go night racing or just racing for the day id take out your passenger seat and rear seats...those make a difference. or if your just freakin fat...LOSE SOME WEIGHT!

I too would be interested in these weights of OEM and aftermarket parts that replace them. A hond tech. once told me that taking out the OEM fuel tank and replacing with a lighter racing fuel cell would save mundo weight as well and also removing a defined section of your rear bumper internal supports (sounded dangerous). I'd be interested in who has real fact numbers of OEM weights vs. the aftermarket replacements and feel it would benefit other Prelude enthusiasts as well. Anyone out there know?

the stock battery weighs 40 lbs, an aftermarket one weighs 13.
there's a the dampener behind the front bumper that apparently serves no purpose.
the stock wheels weigh 19.6 lbs. you can get cheap but decent 15's that weigh 12.
some tires weigh more than others, the proxes t1-s are supposedly the lightest.
lightweight control arms, rotors, calipers. get ready to shell out the $$$
gemini makes those CF trunk lids, but you're prob not saving a lot of weight there.
the sunroof mechanism weighs something like 50-60 lbs. take out the motor and the glass and replace with CF.

I didnt know they made plexi glass for preludes. What are the weights of these vs. the stock ones and the price?
with all the money your using on weight reduction,
you could be using that cash to get more ponies out
of your car, thus helping the hp to weight ratio

I've removed my a/c (all lines, comp., condenser core, etc),all trunk items (spare, jack, floor cover, carpet panels) , back seats. I have shown a good improvement in qtr mile times....about 2 tenths. However, the Prelude(at least 5th gen) is very nose heavy...and I can vouch for that...the rear end is extremely loose now, I would recommend doing what i did, and do some dieting on the front end..cf hood front bumper support lighteing or removing, and relocate the battery to the trunk...maybe that will better balance the front to back wieght ratio...those are my plans...also planned, the greddy evo makes good power but is a fat exhaust..about 56-68lbs...i'm switching to the new tanabe "ultra" medallion....1mm wall thickness s/s piping(no rust) to a Ti muffler..total weight of 36lbs from tanabe...alot weight off there...also i'm getting light wheels... sub 16lbs not sure which ones yet.

what do you mean by balanced?
what do you mean by balanced?
There is 100lbs of sound deadening material in the cabin of car (including what must be removed via heat gun), air bags and a/c total another near 100 lbs, remove jack and put battery in the back and your about set.....
