Default Accords capable of running 11's??(short story)

Sup people, kinda a long story, but will try to keep it short. Anyhow, I'm at work 2 days ago and I'm discussing to another co-worker of mine about performace parts and what some car can do in a 1/4 mile. Well, I'm letting him know that OBX performance doesn't make a 4-1 header for 97+Preludes and he's keeps arguing that they do and all their products are bad *** and will give your car so much horsepower, well anyhow, I keep telling him that their products are shitty and won't do **** for your car. Just cause their cheap doesn't make them a good company to deal with. So he called them up what do you know, they DON'T make a 4-1 header for a 97+Prelude. So I just rubbed that into his face for awhile, but yet, he's still claiming that they still sell good stuff. Well, then a little while later, he's saying he will get his car to run 11's in a 1/4 mile one of these days. But get this, he has a 2000, 4 door, SOHC Vtec, automatic Accord. After he said that, I just laughed in his face. He's all talking about how he's going to put a Turbo, rebuild the motor, NOS, fuel system, injectors, ect....So again, I just laughed in his face and told him he may be able to do 11's in a 1/8 mile....So, then another co-worker jumped into this conversation and was also laughing in his face and telling him the same thing, but this guy is ******* dumb and just won't believe us and still wants to believe that his car is still capable of doing 11's in the 1/4 mile. I bet him $100 that his car isn't going to come close. So I continued to keep messing with him by asking him if he even knows the difference between motors and I'm letting him know that just cause his motor says VTEC on it doesn't mean its the strongest motor, but yet he's stressing out the VTEC that he's got. There was more to this conversation, but my hands are getting tired of typing.

cliff notes: Stupid co-worker thinks he know alot about Performance, OBX products suck ***, Co-worker thinks he can run 11's in a 4 door, SOHC automatic Accord, OBX products still suck, about to win $100

You're right that OBX sucks. I have a 2001 turbo automatic accord and it is no where near the 11's. With my experience I think you will need at least 15000 to make the accord hit 11's, but it is possible.

He's got turbo, but no n20 as far as I know. Car weighs 2070 lbs (about 500lbs under full stock weight) without him inside, dyno'd at 325 hp and 315 ft.lbs/torque @ 21 lbs boost (that's the last numbers I've seen from awile ago). Also got other smaller stuff like lightened flywheel, solid mounts, etc.

Thats some fast times for an accord. I dont know if we can count that one since its the size of like a civic coupe. Even though it has the accord lable on it, its far from a four door sedan. Still thats pretty nice.

Actually, 3rd gens stock for stock, the LX-i hatchback weighs almost the same as both the coupe and sedan.

LX-i with M/T and A/C
hatch - 2,641 lb
coupe - 2,646 lb
sedan - 2,668 lb

It is an Accord after all, not to mention one that everybody laughs at and tells you to buy something else whenever the topic of racing or modifications comes up, so it's gotta count

With a custom turbo setup, sure, but I don't think I would buy OBX parts if I wanted to come close to 11's.......

anything is possible, just not for some retarded stunna who thinks obx is the shiznit.

nobody said it's not possible, it's just ridiculously expensive to do it. would you disagree with this statement?

n/a it would be very hard until major weight reduction have been done.

accords can run 11's though, but the obvious amount of work needed makes it not common place to see or hear about.

the fwd and the weight of the accord tend people to be overly scared of accords I think, in terms of 1/4 mile performance.

Accords own joo biatchs!

As just dont understand why Accords get a bad wrap in the first place. I know they are family cars but i would rather drive my 2 door family grocery getter than a damn econo box civic, just for pure reasons of comfort and style. The Accord has mucho style stock(my opinion) unlike Civics. But it is much easier to make the econo boxes faster.

O well i guess thats why Accord owners are looked at differently

I agree....the accord has awesome styles, and I would prefer a more roomier and aesthetically pleasing car to drive and nothing gives me a bigger grin seeing a h22a in a family car (they should have done that in the first place) but then again my 2 cents sometimes doesn't count (damn Canadian pennies)

I would agree with all you all too about that... I bought my accord by choice, and for its style and whatnot.

i own 2 accords and a civic
guess which one is my race car?
its not my 4th gen though it has a swap, lots of suspension mods and so on...
its the civic. its lighter and benefits much more from increased power....
anyway i gave up on making an 11 second accord about 2 years ago just around the time i got my swap.
id rather have a decently quick car that is comfortable...and then ahve the gutted shell of a civic to go drag race with.
