Someone on H-T, have this christmas present for me? (Spring Test)
Here's what I would LOVE someone on honda-tech to have the info of, for comparisons sake.
Import Review has a few spring rates put up, i believe it's portflow, Jun, Toda, etc.
Could Someone Compare:
Portflow, Skunk2, & Rocket ?
I'm hearing from just about everyone, and I'm relying on the information, that Skunk2 valvesprings are WAY too stiff for their own good. I'm also hearing more and more info about Rocket's Springs
So who here has the ability to go this test, it would be INCREDIBLY usefull, informative and appreciated by all.
Some may have the #'s for one valvespring, but i am hoping we could see something for comparisons sake.......
btw- merry christmas kids

Its not EF-1 springs anymore, its RM (Rocket Motorsports).
I have a set RM, portflow and OEM, but I'm not sure how to test them. I will post pics on Monday.

We could conduct this test at Eibach better than just about anybody, as nobody else has the machinery we do. Most shops will test valve springs on a $100 machine, which really isn`t accurate enough. People would obviously assume the results are biased though if we did it
I`ll put our EVS up against anything on the market

if ryan does the test I'll add a Ferrea spring to. I know he is right if anyone has the best capability of testing a spring it would be you guys. I wouldn't say my rimac is a $100 machine, although not as advanced as the stuff you guys have it does the job.
well let see this thing happen than!!! I think we can all trust a man's word not to mess around with the rusults!!! Is this correct???
Good idea Aaron! Let's see Voodoo do it-it should not be that hard to get springs from most of the major manufacturers.

99% of them should`t be called "manufacturers". Eibach and a few of the V8 guys are the only companies that actually manufacturer their own valve springs. Everything is made in house at our facility in Corona a couple hundred feet from my office.
Anyways, I`ll get the ball rolling on my end. I`ll speak with our VP of Engineering and see how soon we could make something like this happen.

My bad-how about "Purveyors" or "Distributors" ?
It would still be really cool if we could get a legitimate comparison-you will probably be able to tell by the results who is using the same manufacturer. Thanks in advance for doing this Ryan

exactly.
but the customer service each company offers is completely different. even though the end product is pretty much the same.
there isnt much truth about valvesprings out there. its kinda like "i heard these are good"
alot of people are prolly running either too stiff or too soft a spring but since their motor still runs they think the springs work good even though it may not be

what do you mean..?? if they are too stiff you will lose power..?? or damage something like the cams or the rocker arms...??
Hey Ryan, you better invite me to watch the tests at Eibach. When it comes to spring testing, there is so much more than just open and closed pressure numbers and coil bind heights. Any spring manufacture's springs should meet their own specs. I know they put the springs on testers that open and close the spring as fast or faster than your engine can do that. An inferior spring will wiggle from side to side like a hula girl and the metal can actually glow red from that stress. This is all measured by high speed devices and photos. Very interesting to watch.

If you know what specs you want, you can't blame the manufacturer for having too strong a spring. YOU chose those specs. Stay away from secret spec springs and know what you are buying and why you are buying it. Stronger may not be better.

We can do of all of that and more in house
. That`s what type of development goes into our EVS.
