Default d15b swap question, ran a search already

hey guys, a buddy of mine has a 88 crx dx w/ auto tranny...his motor just died and is in need of something...he doesnt have too much money and basically just needs a new motor...my question is, will the d15b sohc vtec motor bolt up to his current auto tranny that he has on the motor now? also what else would be needed to get this swap done? i know we need to run vtec wires, but ive also been readin stuff bout like the mpfi and the other one...can anyone help me out please? thanks a lot guys and merry christmas..

Here goes yes the motor will bolt up to the tranny just swap out the torque converter from the old motor to the new motor. Yes the motor will fit back in w/o any problems. Youll need to wire from dpfi to mpfi and then put vtec on either a flip switch or get a rpm switch from summit racing. What does your buddy plan on doing with the car eventually? Track car? Daily beater? Show winner?

just a daily beater, in no was is this going to be a race car....jus something that can get him from point a to point b with a lil more pep, the new motor doesnt come w/tranny though, so i take it we would have to locate one? why would we have to wire vtec to a switch, wouldnt the ecu take over the x-over point? thanks for the help

If you want to do it right the ECU will take care of it.
This requires converting to OBD 1 and using a P28 ecu.

My suggestion for the cheapest swap for a daily driver, is to get a D15B2 from a junked CRX/Civic DX and that will just drop in. You can find one for $100.00 -$200.00. Shouldn't take anymore than a few hours to swap.
