like the title says whats the difference between these 2?i want to get my 88 crx si ecu chipped but most of the chips are for 90-91's, thanks
That's because of the different E-prom chip used.
You can chip the 88-89 but not with the same steps as you would the 90-91.
to make it simple, get a 90-91 and be done with it.
If you want to read about it go to this site

They are for 90-91 ECU's because those are the only ones that can be chipped easily (without a daughterboard for the new eprom). See, 88-89 ECUs dont have external eproms and the 90-91 versions do. So to chip the 88 ECu you will either need to burn a new MCU with the program you want or make a daughterboard that plugs into the MCU socket and has an eprom (the 90-91 chip) on it.

EDIT: go to wiki.pgmfi.org if you want to just read about it.

ok thanks because i am just going to use the 88 pm6 ecu with a rpm activator for vtec for my y8 that i am swapping and i am pretty sure i will need better fuel and a higher rev limit, or not?? i really dont wanna do the obd1 conversion
that "mugen" program probably removed both o2 sensors. you cant remove just one.

If you are going to go with an ECU that controls the VTEC get a PS9 (90-91 ex ecu) and let me put a 1 wire VTEC program in it. they are cheap and very effective (we have one running a JRSC B16 right now).

WRONG nothing in america had VTEC before 92.
Just covert to OBD 1 and use a P28.

What happened to that ^^? Did you realize you are dumb and decide to edit?
the 1 wire vtec code was developed (not by honda) for the sohc vtec swaps. It works off the auto lockup solenoid hardware already in the PS9 ECU's. Like I said, i am using it in a buddy's JRSC B16 90 std.

Weird. My Mugen programmed ECU gave a code 1 a while ago.
It did it once and never again.
