I can't find a damn thing for the air flow on these to heads a helpful inside would be great

B16 PR3, the B18C5 which is the same as the B16

better flow!

the pr3 (b16) head flows less than 5% better than a p72 (gsr) head. the gsr head actually flows better down low. The gsr head will also give you about a .2 raise in your c/r. go with the p72.

or you can get the skunk2 manifold for the GSR head so it flows just as good AND has more compression.

Nice come back. Not only does Skunk2 make an IM(type R), but theres STR,eldebrock....,Rev Hard just came out with one, and several other companies redrill Type R Im's just like Skunk2 with a little more aggressive port and polish.

according to that chart.. the 2 IM's are fairly similar,.. it all depends if u want more airflow at low rpm (gsr) or.. want more mid/high airflow (b16) buuuuuut.. i'd say aftermarket IM's take my vote as delivering the best overall performance.

back on topic to the heads and airflow..
consider the price difference.. b16 heads are way more common and because of that are starting to get cheap as peanuts.. b18c-c1-c3 whatever... try find a good deal on a fully assembled b18c head that the ppl arent charging a damn fortune for.. IMO there is not enough differences between the two heads to go for the more expensive b18c..
i am not trying to contradict anyone elses knowledge but what extreme diff are u going to get with .2 c/r increase?? if the b16 flows alil less than 5% better (which is easily overcome with a aftermarket I.M) and keeps the compression the same.. why bother about a .2 increase in compression and spending hundreds of more dollars?? i would just go with the b16 since its WORLDS cheaper and extremely easy to come by! my 2 cents (sorry about the novel)

Honestly i don't trust any of the flow charts on alaniz website. If u look at the b18c5 head flow chart it show that it flows 151 cfm @ 10" of h20, now look at the b16 head comparisons, it shows that it flows exactly the same amount as the c5 head- 151 cfm @ 10" of h20. How could that be?

I overlapped the 2 for another thread awhile ago:

Either the R head is way overated, or Alaniz's charts are no good...

What do you guys think of the B17 head and intake from the 92+ GSRs? Whats the difference between the B17 head and the GSR, B16 and type R head? I have a an eg sedan with a a B18b1 swap and I want to make it LS Vtec but I'm not sure which head to go with. My buddy is selling me a B17 head with the intake and braided line ready for the LS vtec swap, all I would need is the cpu for $450. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks for your help
