I would say it's negligable, unless you're boosted and have the N1 turbo muff against the WS.....

do you think that a custom 2.5 in n1 system w/o a cat would
be good for forced induction?

2.25-2.5 is good for n/a, I believe the gurus from a LONG time ago agreed that 2.25 is great for most modded H22's....

I think a 2.5 straight-thru w/ no cat would be alright for turbo, it would be much better than the stock exhaust. I would also go 3" if turbo, but from what I recall, there are no downpipes bigger than 2.75" for the 4th gen's.

there arent any bigger downpipes than 2.5s for ludes, so there is no point to run a 3" full exhaust, if u run a 2.5 u are good...that is what i am soon going to run with a universal N1 muffler.

hmmmm.........i thought that if your exhaust gets bigger the farther
back, that was better for turbo

No, it doesnt matter for turbo, all you want is free flow exhaust pipe, Turbo back.

for NA application, WS do have more resonating muffler material=less noise but more restriction.

depends what type of setup, you could have i/h/e and you can get away from 2.25, 2.5 is not too big for heavily modded NA

IMO that would be optimal for a n/a car, but for a car with force induction i would think that a 3inch custom exhaust would out do a 2.5inch one.</TD></TR></TABLE>

you should definitely go with 3" if your going forced induction.

but y, when your DP is only 2.5 or 2.75...that will cause a tide like problem with your exhaust gasses.

Thats why you could always pull off a better time at the track running open header compared to like having an exhaust on.</TD></TR></TABLE>

It's not though. Well, it kind of is. Backpressure is important, but the biggest thing is VELOCITY. You want to have the highest velocity possible w/ no backpressure at your motor's powerband.

Running open header allows for only one part of the exhaust system to be a restriction: the header. The fact is that most of the time the header is the bottleneck on a car anyways. This is why most big power gains that are made on a Prelude are on headers w/ 2.5" collectors, or w/ another header that's modded w/ a bigger collector.
