make a selection on a layer and either fill it or use the gradient fill, then play with the layers transpareny...

Play around...

First learn how to post pics.
Then learn to take off caps lock.
After that, try Photoshop.

Thanks

I would use the rectangular selection tool and select the top 20% of the area, then feather it by about 40 pixels, right click -> fill and use the foreground.

Oh yeah before you do that you'll have to change your foreground colour to that yellow.

Not the best method but thats how i'd do it!

you mean layers...

layer > new layer > rectangular selection of about 1/3 > fill yellow > filter > blur > gaussian blur (until you get the desired effect > play around with layer options.

When you select the gradient tool, make sure you're using the foreground to transparent swatch. The color should then fade into the image.
