Default power steering pump prob

with regards to mounting the power steering pump, it has 3 bolts that hold it in place that go through little tracks on brackets, allowing it to be mounted at an angle or level or whatever, and a tensioner bolt with a locknut... does it matter if you mount the damn thing at a slight angle, or does it have to be level? thanks

Default Re: power steering pump prob (jz)

Put the mounting bolts in but don't torque them down. With the locknut loose, tighten the the adjusting screw down, which will raise the pump and create tension on the belt. Check your Helm manual for tension spec- I don't remember it offhand. It was something like 10mm of deflection at 22lbf pressure...someone doublecheck me. After you get the tension correct tighten the locknut. Then torque down the mounting bolts.
