how long can i ride on dead strut...??
ok my front passenger strut jus went out on me and its winter time...i was hoping to drop it after winter and install some tokico illuminas but since its blown out on me i was wondering if i can ride on it til winter blows by...will it be safe and will it destroy any part of my car if i dont replace it quick...?
I dunno if I messed up anything on my car, but I ran on some very old tokicos for a long while, and they were so bad that when they were taken out, You could push the shock in, but It wouldn't push back out, lol

Illuminas ownz j00!!
I'm just thinking of the cars I've seen driving along all fat and happy with a rear tire bouncing along merrily due to a fully blown shock. I don't see it as much in the front, maybe due to that being the heavy end of the car? I would have concern about loosing control on bumps or hard braking.
I did break a spring on a car with a bad shock, but that was on the back of a '70 Buick with a live axle that weighed about half a CRX.
Oh yeah, I also had one with a shock that the oil had leaked out and water got in in the winter and then froze. Really stiff on that corner.
If you know anyone that took their stock shocks out, I would see if you can get one if you can change them yourself.

man i would change it myself but im already sick and its cold as hell outside...aint tryin to get sick again...looks like imma have to split my empty wallet...
it was considered but im gettin deals off ebay and they dont sell one by itself plus summit racing doesnt carry tokico and they jus 10min away from me....only kyb...sux..was thinkin a a kyb gr-2 til spring but one gr2 plus install around 100-150 and a full set of illuminas is 400....thas 100-150 towards my illuminas...might as well deal with the bouncy ride....

dc231, I've wanted to ask before, how can the wrx be enjoying life above 10,000ft when the location in your name is way south Fla? Last I checked you can double your elevation above sea level down there by standing up and the only way to get a car to 10,000ft is to air ship it.
Oh yeah, does anyone here have a used shock they took off their car to give this guy so he does not go bouncing off the road this winter? What car is it anyway, I don't seem to remember hearing that.

My brother in Colorado is borrowing it until he can afford a car that will suit his needs. I figured that with his house being 9800 feet above sea level, and with the 40+ feet of snow they'll be expecting this year, that he'd be better off with my WRX than with my ITR.
