Engine Bays for Show Cars....
after looking at the recent Showoff car show pics...
the engine bays were spotless, and most of the harness's were hidden.
i was glad, that people were taking notice of the clean bays,
but now, when will they step it up a little more? they spend enough money on everything else...a clean, smooth engine bay will definitely top it all off.
example...
go from this...
clean, but wiring and misc things showing..
to this [seems a little more clean]
and ultimately to this [quite bit of an extreme]
not that i'm downplaying any one of those cars,
but just an observation, in which japanese show cars could be going in the future.

I am trying to find some quick easy ways to do this on my car this winter. Nothing insane, because my car is by no means a show car... but trying to find some quick dirty ways to hide some wires, misc crap, and make a clean bay.
this one right?
i couldnt find a good clean shot of the bay [i remember seeing one tho]...so i didnt post a pic/.
but yeah, definitely a nice bay.
just hard to see from this pic

Damn, that white engine bay looks crazy! I could see show cars going that direction, with smoothed out bays in the near future.

there is just a lot of potential because there are those little misc holes in the strut towers than can be welded over,
the battery is tiny on a honda, and can fit anywhere.
rad is tiny, so more room.
the coolant lines, arent that big either...so those can be extended and hidden.
the fuse box, as well as harnesses can be extended and moved.
most likely ac and power steering is obsolete anyway, so that takes care of that clutter.

damn, I never realised how much work went into cleaning up your bay. A friend of mine was doing one for a customer, I was helping, hinding wires in the fenders, polishing up stock motor mounts to CHROME! Its not an easy or fun job, but the end result is beauty!
yea but once you start hiding oil lines, coolant lines and put pieces over them, what happens if they all decided to blow or get backed up? there's twice as much work to fix a problem. the bays on the 1st 2 hondas and the burgandy one are sick but that white VW (i think) is just to much.
jonahs bay is definitely a great example of what i'm talking about.
word.
he smoothed the strut towers, has almost no harnesses at all.
and only two coolant hoses...

sure its a pain, but its the cost of being a show car.
you gotta do **** that isnt practical to win.
many people sacrifice coolant pumps, hoses, over flow tanks, heat shields, among other things, to make their **** look clean.
but they arent out there racing their cars,...or seeing how well their car will endure elements,
but to impress judges.
