Default check engine light on 98 accord v6(sedan)

I was wondering if someone can help me with this problem. My check engine light came on and it did not go away, so I checked the code and it blinked 9 twice so im assuming this means 99, but when I looked up the code I did not see a 99. So I went ahead a pulled the fuse. It has been about 5 days know and the light has not come back on. My question is when you pull the fuse does it wipe out whatever info it originally had that brought up that light and if so by reseting it and it not coming back does that mean it might have been a malfunction to begin with? Any replies regarding this matter would be apprecited, thanks

Do you have any mods?

Don't worry about the code if it doesn't come back on. Pulling the fuse clears the ECU's short term memory.

Yes, re-setting the ECU wipes out all the previous codes. Your engine won't be hurt... the code will just come back, and your engine well go into limp mode. My understanding of the ECU's Honda is using know, will have to throw a code several times, before you see it up on the dash. They call this a maturing code, the only way to see if the code is coming back before the light comes on, is by hooking it to a scan tool, and have it read the ECU. I would take it as a code 9 becuase of the way you described it. Usually there is a long blink which equals a 10, followed by short blinks that equals a 1, then a pause, long blink then short blinks etc... Or several blinks under 9 then a pause, etc...

so If it the check engine light indicator does not come back do u think it might have been something loose. Because ever since I reset it it has not returned. And do you know of any pages that gives you the code numbers?

If it doesn't come back, don't worry.

About the limp mode thing. You need certain codes to go into limp...I have had multiple codes, and still ran fine and plenty fast.

HXMan,

Could you please explain which codes do not throw you in limp mode?
