Default I've done the search and I still need help

Where are all the people that have done the H22A swaps? I heard so much about this swap and how much better it is...yet, few have actually done the swap or least none of them who claim to have done it are talking.

My first project was to turn my 92 Accord Lx into a Euro Accord. I planned on buying the F20B engine and almost everyone says why do that when you can go with an H22A. Then someone else came along and said just turbo the F22. Then someone else came along and said something about the H22 being better.

After reading about how popular the H22 swap is, I decided to go with an H22 swap. Then it's like all the people who claimed it was better disappeared. No one is talking. Well now I'm left with a slew of question and one $2000 investment which I'm not sure rather I made the right decision.

First off this is what my engine will come with:

- Motor
- Intake Manifold
- Exhaust Manifold
- Injectors
- Fuel Rail
- Throttle body
- Alternator
- Distributor

Now I know that I need an ECU, However what else do I need? I'm keeping my 92 Accord an automatic so I don't want to swap transmissions. I need help people and now no one is talking. Where all those people that said that H22's are all that and bunch of gold medals too?

it sounds like you ordered a long block. to finish all that up you will need a harness witch i think you can use the same one that is on your car, and the tranny you have will work on the h22 (from what i have heard they use the same tranny case basically) and then axles and mid shaft, not sure if the ones on your car right will work or not sorry

I think you should change motor mounts while you are swapping, and I am pretty sure you will need H22a drive axles. I doubt F22 ones would last long with the extra torque and HP. The ECU will need to be for an automatic also, and I think that will be hard to find. You're right though, the H22a is the best for your money, especially because you already spent the money on it. I am hoping to have an H22 by summer, but who knows. My friends got one in a garage in sun river, but I don't have the cash right now. Anyway, good luck on the project.

The I don't think f22 harness works on the H22. I could be wrong, but I just have a hunch.

lots of great wrong info here!

get a complete swap
get teh jdm h22a automatic
use accord mounts
use accord axles
use the accord harness and mod it to fit.
the swap if done by knowledgeable person should not take morethan 2 days to do and be running perfectly.

and yes many people have done the swap
and many dont talk about it
i get tired of it since way too often i get someone who should not be changing their own oil much less doing a swap asking for a step by step on how to do it.

Thanks everyone,

Ok...so the list looks like this so far then.

-H22 auto ECU
-H22 auto Tranny

Ok...that's doable......I can afford that...Now what about the AC compressor and Power steering pump? Do I need to add them to the list?

you have to swap out the compressor pulleys on both of them. accord is 5 ribs and lude is 4. you can use the old compressors, but you will need to take the old mounting brackets off the accord motor. that is the easiet way to keep ac and PS. the accord harness works fine, just have to add 2 vtec wires and 1 knock sensor wire.

maybe i'm not reading it right, but u said u spent 2000 on an H22a longblock (the parts u listed)? sorry to say but if thats true then u got ripped off... it shouldn't have costed more than 1600 shipped to your door for a low mileage JDM h22a.

Also if you want I have read that you can keep the f22 tranny, it bolts up, it has longer gears which would be great for a turbo set up and top speed...however you will be shifting out of vtec range with a f22 tranny.....if you have the money for a h22 auto why not get the manual...its not much more and you will get more out of that engine Plus if you get the h22 manual tranny, you have to get a tranny mount on the passenger side of the bay for install..... here is a quasi how to by sportcompact car they did on last months issue, gives a little inside info http://www.sportcompactcarweb....ybrid/
good luck

The accord tranny may be better if you are doing a lot of highway driving. The lude teanny is high-reving but as stated earlier is easier to stay within vtec. Also i dont think you cruise control will work. Don't get frustrated at all by it. When you are done it will be well worth it. Of course you have been to h22.org right?

the h22a auto will be fine and you dont suffer much if any loss of acceleration compared to a 5 spd. i know 2 peopel that have pulled 15 flat in 5th gen accords with the auto h22a with just the swap, the other ran a 13.8 with a 75 shot on 18s and the auto h22a.

I thought honda-tech was a forum where people who aren't as GD perfect as you could go to get answers to questions. Sorry almighty king of honda knowledge.

By the way, can you tell me how to change my oil? Just wondering.
