Installed my Recaro SRD's this weekend.....
Hey guys and gals! My friends and I installed my new Red Recaro SRD's this weekend (with recaro rails/sliders). They look and fit great! I will post pictures this week of the setup. All in all I am VERY happy with the seats. The only problem that we had was that there weren't any instructions with the rails and sliders so we had to figure out the install on our own (not very difficult). Also they were missing some bolts. After 2 trips to Home Depot, we finally got them installed. I will say that I am surprised at how comfortable the seats are..... and boy do they hug you and keep you put!
Hopefully I will get my 4 point sabelt harnesses installed this week and will post up additional pics.

actually, I heard that using "Mitsubishi" shoulder pads is more effection than the Mugen ones. I believe that the Mitsubishi ones are padded better for 4 point harnesses.

I think what D is trying to say, oh so gently, is PLEASE get a rollbar installed if you're going to strap yourself in with a 4-point, the head is not an FIA approved Roll-Protection mechanism, even with a helmet
and don't mount the 4-point to the floor, a spine is a terrible thing to waste.

aleph: where else to mount the gear for the lap belts? I guess you could use the stock seatbelt mounting points lik GeeSeR. Of course, you meant (at least I believe you meant
) not to mount the shoulder belts to the floor.. just to add to that, don't mount that anywhere except a rollbar. That includes harness bars, monkey barz, or the rear upper seatbelt mounts.
Seriously, you are messing with your safety here, I'd rather have a 3 point belt over a 4 point (or 5/6 point for that matter) mounted without a good rollover protection device. anyday.

If you mount the shoulder belts down the back of the seat to the passenger footwell, in an head-on or so accident, the inertia of your body will want to travel forwards, and the belts will want to stop you...being mounted to the floor, they'll end up pulling down on your shoulders, which will snap your seat-and your back- in half and fold you backwards. most belt manufacturers say never mount at more than a 45 degree angle from horizontal, i've seen people use the rear strut tower bar, the rear upper stock belt mounting point, and best of all, the harness bar of a roll cage or bar. When it comes to your safety, do it right. Doing it wrong is like putting a fire extinguisher in front of your airbag, so when it deploys your passenger gets a face or chest full of high velocity pressurized metal on top of the accident.
Sweet!!All the Aussie 'R's have these seats and I luv 'em. But I wouldn't use a Harness with them. Harness are only supposed to be used with Racing Buckets (No hinged seats allowed.) Also, Roll cages are illegal here for Street cars. See if you've got a cage, you need a harness. If you're harness is done-up properly, you can't lean forward to see around things from time to time. So there no good for the Street. I personally think any car that can do sub 15 sec quarters should have a roll-cage fitted standard.
But these seats are fine with the standard retractalbe seats belts.
Congrad!
Did u purchased USDM w/ recaro rails or JDM sets?
I just purchased JDMs with oem rails.(used)

PLEASE GUYS!! Before you jump ALL over me, give me some credit here... I know my ****. I may be a female but I have been racing/showing cars for almost 7 years now.
I have myAutopower Roll Bar on order and have been holding my harnesses (currently for 3 months) until my bar came in. I know the risks and am not stupid.
I will post up pics this week of the seats if anyone wants to see......

Sweet, that's all we wanted to know
Still, if someone doesn't know, they'll check out this thread thinking "i want some recaros" and they just might learn something...

Good job. See if you can persuade Ed to see the error of his ways, then!
So, whose gold metalflake teg with a touring car wing did I "pass" on the beltway before the Wilson Bridge ... after a while I DID see them flash the brights.
(but I could barely make them out so far back there ... think they got off on Telegraph Rd).
What WERE they thinking!?
