Default Cold Air Intake

Hi I have a cold air intake installed ... i know it would consume more gas cause of more air .. can anyone tell me is it worth keeping it or is it not? and the oher thing is that the cold air intake;s filter is down near the ground do you recommend it near the ground or inside the hood .. thanks !!

you won't use that much more gas if you don't slam on the pedal all the time. I got better gas milage after I put it on, but I don't gun it all the time. if you want the filter in the engine bay you should have gotten a RAM intake. the only thing you might have to worry about with the CAI is hydro lock, but that's only if you drive through a huge puddle and submerge the filter. drive with some common sense and you'll be fine.

Yeah the ram air would give you less cold air coming in so you would get less Hp. When you have a ram air it gets a lot of heat of the engine. But just forget about the bolt-ons and get a turbo or engine swap. I wish I had. The intake really doesnt change the gas mileage. If you put H and E with it that probably would.

thats not neccersarily true......no matter what ur setup is, the better the engine can breathe the better of it is...+ sum ppl (like me) have no plans of putting in 5K to get 50 more whp......if ur cai is AEM, which are the best, then if u worried about hydrolocking, get the bypass vavle.......

your butt is playing trick on you, that's why there's dyno machine

when you replacing the shiny intake you are...

bypassing the resonator(less restriction), bigger tube size(most of the car, yes) for more air flow, and perhaps a better flow filter

most of the time, remove all the restriction give you a slighty better mileage
