Default Shift linkage conversion...

For those of you who have Accords with manual trannies (non Prelude trannies), you too are probably plagued with the same annoyance I am: soft (too light) and inaccurate shifter shifter feel and performance. Even though I have a short shifter, and I have cut about 1" off of my shifter height, it's still not what I'm looking for. Now, those of you who've driven MT Preludes, you'll agree that the Prelude's shifting feel is far superior. So, is this the shift linkage of the Accord, or the tranny? Is it possible to overhaul my shift linkage with Prelude shift linkage, and would this solve my dilemma?

no the problem is the 4 soft rubber bushings on the shifter where if mounts to the body,...use polyurethane, that what i did i know they dont make em, but i used the ones from my poliyrethane kit that would go in the stock upper control arm mounts, I have a camber kit, and that uses delrin bushings, so i experimented, and it works nice, real nice

is the feel stiffer only when you're jogging the shifter left and right in neutral, or is it stiffer forward and back when shifting gears? or is it both? are you satisified with the result? thanks.

i can't afford a misshift when running hard under NOS...

Try BG Synchroshift manual transmission lubricant. I swear that stuff make your shifting action SO much better.
Redline MTL is also very popular but I've never tried it.
They're both synthetic tranny oils, and you know how good synthetic motor oil is.

the polyurethane bushings that you used... what bushing kit were they from? what brand name, and size if you remember. most of those bushings you can order individually... oh, and have you experienced any squeaking from the polyurethane bushings in your shift linkage?

Did vibration increase significantly?

Just take the bushings out all together and get some replacement shorter bolts and bolt the plate directly to the chassis... I get more precise shifting with NO play, but I get a little vibration, but who cares because your not supposed to drive with your hand on the shifter all the time anyways...

Hey, John, if I recall correctly, the Accord EX-R was a Canadian model and not sold in the US. Is that what your car is?

EX-R is the Canadian alphanumeric for the EX badge. Yes, you are correct (my car was purchased in Canada, but not by me).
