? @ deckplated motors
i was going to drop off a block (b20) at golden eagle and get it sleeved and was thinking about deck plates.. what goes into the whole setup as far as the block / piston / rods / crank.. do you need a custom crank etc.. anyone that can give me some good info itd be nice.. just figuring miswell run a deckplate now while im shelling out all the cash to have it sleeved.
and the guy with the gold eg (2.2L civic.. i think) i saw your running a decked motor. what details can you give me about your setup..
my original plan was b20 vtec with something like to4 and running 12 psi street and 15+ at the track. shell is a rhd eg6

I have a deckplated block and have yet to run it. You either need custom rods, crank or both to make it work. I like the idea since you can pretty much design the motor to be exactly how you want it to be internally. It is a pain in the *** for a few things though. Headstuds are kinda hard to find, and you have to run an electric water pump. I have yet to find a way of running the pump on the street so it doesn't overcool. If you have the money I say go for it. If I would have not gone with a deckplate my project would have been finished a good amount of $$ ago.

EDIT-For your listed goals I would just stick with a sleeved non deckplated block.

yea i already figuered the @ the water pump.. i was also going to run a dry sump for the oil. so whats really involved.. is it totally custom job are thier any production pieces i can buy. like maybe someone sells the piston rod combo with deckplate for certain blocks.. or maybe itd just be cheaper to get a dart b20 block with the increased deckheight?
I know Eagle sells a stroker kit and I am sure GE has a setup since they do deckplates. Just talk to who ever is doing the procedure and I am positive they will be able to point you in the right direction. The Dart will be more expensive since you can deckplate your B-series for around a grand.

my deckplate engine consists of
b18c block
84.5mm bore
3/4 inch deckplate
stock gsr crank
custom long crower rods
arias flat top pistons.
o ring'd sleeves
golden eagle water pump setup
arp 1 inch longer head studs
z10 3 main block girdle and main stud kit
wet sump oil/vacum system from z10
including the price of the oil sytem
total = 8400.00
if i were to do it again, i wouldnt go with the decklate, people are making plenty of power without them

i really like the oil system, z10 claims good gains with this system, almost as good as dry sump, plus its a nice simple design.
i also have a 1 wire alternator setup coming from them as well as an ATI dampener. they are in but i havent gotten around to picking them up.
we are waiting on z10 to finish another oil system for us...(got another car coming up)

i know the guy with the gold EG, its actually a 2.1L. Deckplating basically just increases the height of the deck allowing you to run a longer stroke which increases the displacement.
If i remember right matt, the guy with the gold EG had to have custom motor mounts made for hood clearance and also had problems with finding a header to clear the oil pan. Also, the timing belt needs to be figured out....running an electric water pump is one option.
other than that
for deckplate

everyone makes headers for deck plate motors now... well not everyone but its juss as easy to get a header for a deck plate motor as it is for a regular one.

Is this person in WA? If so I would love to see their setup. I am in WA as well.

i know hytech and similar companies make headers that will clear but what about people who dont want to pay 1200 bucks on a header...can u just call the company like DC and ask for a custom header?
i though i read that deckplate motors were illeagal for nhra??? and maybe other santioning bodies? You might wanna check on that before u do it.
I also have a deckplate motor. it's a gsr stroked to a 2.1liter eagle stroker kit with wiseco pistons, web cams, speedpro ecu, jg intake manifold, bbk 70 mm tb, 440 injectors..base hp was 222@8600 and 162 ft.tq. there are a few things you need to think about 1. adjustable cam gears (because tdc is no longer at 0 and 0) 2. electric water pump, and the header jg eldrebrock fits just fine... any questions call me at my 800# on the bottom of my sig. also the hp is low because my ecu took a dump on the dyno so I could not my adjustments.. thanks...
RS machine 3/4" deck plate. eagle 95mm crank, custom crower rods, arias pistons, 86mm bore. headstuds are just ARP LS center studs all the way around. and thx JasonP for the bearing #!!

there illegal for hot rod, but not illegal for all motor.....all motor is the only class i think you can use them in

yea he lives in the tacoma, lakewood area if its the same guy everyone was talking about...not sure how many gold egs there are with deckplate motors tho

Hey guys....I dont understand why you cant use the stock water pump?? maybe things are different when using a DART Tall deck or something, because we have several Tall decks running on the street with stock pumps...we also found the correct belts that are longer too....When using the DART blocks you also can use GSR Headstuds all around, they already figured in on the extended deck height.
