Default Finally got Tein SS

After riding on stock shocks for 40,000 miles, I finallt got Tein SS. I can't wait to install them. How many of you guys have this setup and how do you guys like it? Right now my car is dropped 2", but was thinking of raising it to 1.5" with Tein. How low are you guys riding? Thanks in advance.

I'm riding about 1.7-1.8 and the ride is great! one of the best mods I've done so far. I've had them on over a year now and I'd recommend them to anyone. Have fun with them once you get them on.

I got them too but also put all poly-eurithane bushings in, ST sway bar, strut bars and new ball joints. I felt like my car was a brand new race car. I loved my accord just because of this regardless of how little hp it has. Now I understand why most people in europe usually just do suspension mods. That alone makes the car 100x more fun.

bad valving, and weak *** spring rates, and over priced.

Although your setup is good, its plain and simple not a full coilover system. Tein SS and other full coilover systems have been made to work together to specific specs not like seperate ones like a GC/Koni upgrade. When you get those GC/Koni Yellows, you're paying for about if not more than the Tein SS. Got mine for $850. Plus Tein spring rates and spring rates can be upgraded and rebuilt to be stiffended up for a decent price. For my SS, i dropped the rears all the way. and the front about a 2" drop.

No they don't. However they do squeak some what. I thought I lubed the bushings plenty but after about a month, they started to make noise. Nothing too annoying though. Mostly just when you go over speed bumps and what not.

wow, rice boy accord guys

so sad

GC/koni is a "full coilover" they have custom valved Koni's specific for GC. And Konis so much easier to get revalves, and with GC's...all you have to do is call eibach and tell them what you want.

i do suspesnion stuff all the time, and i sell it too. 99% of tein stuff is JUST for looks. And even in Japan it's looked at like a low quality setup, and few there run them.

if you want a "true" coilver...get something good. Buddy Club, JIC, Apex i'. Tein is bling, and that's about all it is.

so how am I an idiot, 2000Accord5sp? because I'm not a rice boy like you?

hell, if you want an accord guys opinion, ask my friend Jason (Wadzii, Jdogg, Furry) He's been doing them longer than most anyone his age, and he'll tell you there worthless for anything other than street driving too.

Tein = "JDM" Bandwagon

so your calling condom sleeve Ground Control coilovers (which can be mated w/ any strut) mated with "custom" Koni Yellows are a TRUE Coilovers?

however i do agree Apexi Coils are better then the Tein's.

Haha, if you say you do suspension stuff all the time, how can you say Tein is just JDM looks? :rolls eyes:

I lived in Japan for 10+ years so don't try to tell me that they consider Tein as low quality. Yes, it's not the best over there but it's by far considered 'low quality'.

Go read up in the auto-x forums here. Yes people like the GC/Koni setup but they will agree that it is neither a whole lot cheaper nor is it any better than getting teins.

If you think Teins are garbage then you ARE an idiot.

So I'm a rice boy now huh? What part of any of this would you call rice...whatever...don't try to talk like you know me

what the hell does that engine prove to me?

and tein is considered low quality in Japan. They look at is as we look at Hayame or soemthing simialr. They are not suited for any kind of aggressive driving. They are a street/rice boy coilover. just look at the spring rates.

and the koni/gc is an EXCELLENT setup if you get the ones that are MADE to work together. The koni guy is at most of hte ECHC events and races himself. he recommends go get GC's when you get koni's...and that's enough for me or anyoen else.

but tein is just a damn bandwagon. in the last year ALL the rice boys want them. There are so many other choices that are actually good setups that get turned down because they aren't the popular choice.

tein = garbage

Well you call me a rice boy. What part of my project would you call rice? I'm curious. I'm tellin you to shut up before you make stuupid useless comments like that.

As far as how the Japanese think, why don't you tell me who you talked to that says that? Tein's aren't the highest quality in Japan, true. But tell me WHO in japan says they're garbage? I'll list sites for you if you want of people who talk about Tein....they say how it's not the best, but the price is great and it's got good performance.

http://plaza3.mbn.or.jp/~RollingK/tein.html
Here's a page in Japan where a guy changed to Tein's. He had several options to choose from if you read his page. He was thinking either overhauling his current Bilsteins, going Ohlins or Konis, or going with more affordable Teins. I wonder which he chose...and what does he say about them? He had a pro driver actually drive his car and that guy said "Wow, this is NICE".

So how bout we stop telling everyone what Japanese think when you have absolutely no idea. No one here is saying Teins are the GOD of suspension. But your original post was about what a waste of money he put in buying teins because they're just for looks. That's OBVIOUSLY a false statement.

i deal with enough ppl to know what is good and what is not good.

i also have friends that go to Japan quite frequently and go to the various shops to see what's new, what's comign to the states, and what is good.

Don't lecture me, kid, about stuff you THINK you know about.

the SS is a STREET COILOVER. That means that is is softly valved and weakly sprung. that makes it junk.

Tein as a whole is not junk, i suppose. Seeing as SOME, a very few models, are nicely made and have some racing to back them up, but the SS's are complete rice boy trash, rice boy.

deal with enough people to know what's good huh? Have you ever driven in a car with teins? Was it a crappy handling car? hahaha. You make me laugh.

and now back to the " my friend said" defense huh? Back off already, you're just making a fool of yourself. We got the point that it's not the best and no ones ever said otherwise. After all this you're still going to try to keep saying Teins are crap. Just makes me laugh. So I guess me talking to people over there in Japan in their native language just somehow 'misunderstood' what they think about Teins becuase you know so much?

Some people just aren't worth your time trying to reason with i guess. What do you do...you guys can come to your own conclusion about this topic. As far as I'm concerned, you guys can read the links and what not, do your own research. I doubt any of you are stupid enough to come up with the conclusion that they're piece of crap, just like no one here came up with the conclusion that it's the best thing out there.

...but what would a 'rice boy' like me know right? I'm all about the clear corners and NAAAAWWZ right? I mean look at my car....what a rice boy.
