Default b20z non vtec or b16

i hd a b18b but currently its dead( long story lol)

now i am thinking of what to come, b16 or b20z

right now i do have the nessessary parts for the b20z to get b20 running good. ls tranny :-/....

i kno the b16 does have chance to be fast but stock to stock i'd really feel the b20z would have just as much power potential. as a b16 could just with maybe a lil more work...
just asking suggestions.

If I had the chance I would seriously do the b20z, its got tons of potential and already putting down respectable torque. Then there is always later on down the line when you can slap a vtec head on it.

I vote b20z.

I wouldnt turbo the b20z, maybe SC it.
Ive seen bad things with the b20z and turbo.
If you want boost b18b, but I would still rather rock a b20z all motor monster.

b20.. better...i had b16.. no funto dive..

all u need is a b20 long block.. u already have an ls manifold and ecu..

everything else just bolts up.. plus b16 will cost more.. as with ecu and so fourth.. if u get b16 i got the manifold obd1 for sale.

actually all you need is the b20 shortblock, b20 head = LS head

go for the b20 all day!!

I have the b20z in my ek with a ys1, skunk intake manifold, generic cold air intake, aem pulleys, and straight pipe with a ractive muffler ( dont laugh it was cheap.)

very happy with it, wheel spin is inevitable in 1st trough 3rd. Im thinkin of the vtec head soon, not sure. Im poor

you've seen bad things happen to turbo b20s more than sc b20's is stupid. a sc'd b20 would only run 6-10 lbs at the most. whoever had the turbo'd thing was most likely running higher than that. of course he blew his sleeve. it's inevitable in any stock b series with more bost thatn 6-8 lbs

i'd vote b20. look at my sig for my reasons.

Unless, of course, you cruise the freeways alot and want your car to actually last. The B20 is not going to be happy running at close to 5000RPM on the freeway for any length of time.

b20z def will be faster, with a chance for you to add a vtec head later on.
on my integra i can easyly with no problem pull on any 99-03 si with mods, and stock gsr's ,my friends gsr with mods i cant take him in the 1/4 mile pulls on me right at the end ,but for some reason after 5th gear on the highway my car pulls hard on him everytime, cant expain it though lol.
btw you will def need a short gear tranny b16/gsr so you can keep the b20 on its power band throughout everyshift.

i raced a b20 eg with GSR tranny in my eg b16a and beat him every time by a car or more and totally owned him on the freeway.

in an all out race the b16 will always win with an equal driver.

Another thing is that b20's were not designed for the same kind of abuse that b16's can handle.

the b20 will "feel" faster and be more torquey, has much more low end and is a better daily driver. but all out the b16a is faster. there is no argument. more horsepower will always win, even if it takes till 4th gear to really pull.

you'd be silly to not take vtec. More potential, more reliable, more power, better motor period...
People are saying buy the b20, then a vtec head, then a vtec transmission (bling bling).
How about I buy a b16, then a b20 shortblock when I have the money?
VTEC swaps are just going to go up in price, get one now.

how much does a b20z with intake manifold and header maybe some mild tuning yield on the dyno?
