Default CTR vs. Skunk 1's and then some ...

I'm ready to jump into the head. I dont know however weather I want to go with CTR's or Skunk Stage 1 cams. I hear go with Skunks. Ok fine. Then next question becomes what spring/retainers and valves I should go with. I was seriously thinking of Ferrea components. So now I turn to my fellow Honda friends for you advice and experience.

Valvetrain has a lot of personal preference involved, as far as where you like your power to be created, what experiences you've had, what tuning will be involved, etc. I'm running CTR's in my stock bottom end B16a, and after some mild street tuning, they are amazing! With bolt-ons, kenji p28, and the CTR cams on a mild street tune, I'm making 151whp on a Mustang dyno... which relates to around 165 on a Dynojet. No doubt with some real tuning, the numbers would be higher.

I personally don't have any experience with the Skunk2 Stage1's, but from what I've read, people that have switch from CTR's to S2S1's have made more power.

BTW I'm on stock b16a2 valvetrain, rev to 9200 rpm almost daily with the CTR's.

I would say the skunk2 stage 1's with ITR valve springs. You should easily make more power than the CTR's.

ITR valve springs work great with these cams, and they will be cheap, as you will only need to pick up the intake side of inners, and outers, and swap your stock intake side to the exhaust side.

IMO, this = best bang for your buck.

Go with the stage 1's. Noticable difference for sure. The stage 1's pull allot harder on top than the ITR's.
