Default All motor build tranny question

I'm going to do an all motor sohc build this spring which should make around 160-170whp when through. THe D16Y8 that's currently in my car now has a Dx tranny hooked up which i want to switch to Si. My only dilema is that the Dx clutch has a brand new stage 2 clutch on it that i dont want to waste. If i do the build and keep the dx tranny for now will it affect anything when i do swap tranny's to the Si? I plan on Hondata tuning so would i need to get it tuned to the new tranny? How about engine stress with the longer gear ratio of the Dx?

Thanks,

Vince

Is the dx tranny a 4th gen cable or the hydro y8 one? If its the cable then just get a same year Si tranny. If its the y8 one then I have no clue.

Any tranny i would put on it would be an 88-91 cable...the reason i can't keep the clutch if i swap to an Si is because i want to upgrade to the 91 tranny so i can take advantage of a lightweight aftermarket flywheel and bigger clutch. Those aren't available for the 88 i belive. I just want to make sure that swapping tranny's after the build wont pose a problem with...

1) Tuning

2) More stress on the engine with Dx tranny?

If you swap after tuning it will not matter becuz it doesnt change how the engine runs. But if u put a lighter flywheel on it may change your torque curve, which in some ways will effect tuning. And there wouldnt be more stress with the dx tranny..it should be less being that its geared for more highway driving.

There has to be companies that sale a lightweight flywheel for the 88 tranny. If there isnt, then just wait until u have the tranny, flywheel, and clutch for the 91 until u put it all together and get it tuned.
