What are some other that are comp. to the S2k?
Just wondering what 'class' the S is in? What other cars is it comparable to as far as keepin up with. I see from searching that it will generally run in the low 14's. What other cars can keep up with it on the road courses? I'm referring to stock only cars... no mods.
well, i think that s2ks are around the 30,000 ish range. For cars that make near, same, or more power for the same money, i would go with: Subaru STi,Lancer EVO,Infinity G35 Coupe,Rx-8,Nissan 350Z,Bmw 3 series,etc....
But Why switch from Honda?

Oh no, that's not what i'm saying, I just plan to buy one in about two weeks and wanted to know what the S was up against. I'm just attracted to the 50/50 weight distrub. and the styling. Oh yeah, and who can forget the droptop and cozy interior.

Not really sure if this is what you are asking, but my next car will be either a 2001 S2000 or a 1998/1999 Corvette.
Both are great sports cars in the $20k-$25k range. So the C5 Corvette is what *I* am comparing it to.

well i am pretty sure the STi is NO WHERE near those cars you listed, that thing is in a diff. class. your talking about 300 hp and tq all wheel drive. it runs 13's the rest you stated are 13.9's and up. also, in my road and track i believe it was the 01 issue or something but it was when the s2k just came out and it said the weight was 63/47. not sure but thats what they said.

Firstly... the STi is by far, not better than any of the cars he listed. 300hp, WOW, who cares, power means **** when you understeer that bad, thus on road courses the STi is as quick, if not slower, than the other cars listed. Secondly, 13.9 and up... hmm... Evo is quicker than 13.9 (13.4ish), and the 350z is around a 13.8. But 1/4 is irrelivant in cars that are obviously setup for road course. Lastly, 63/47 = 110. Please before you give opinions, learn Math, Physics, and how to be a magazine racer.
For that price range, I would consider the S2000 or the Evo. Evo would probably the the quickest around a road course. Evo RS should be out soon too

its ok buddy, you can go be the magazine racer, im just stated what i knew, and there is nothing wrong with being wrong, you just get corrected and take it from there and learn. your telling me the STi isn't the fastest one on the 1/4 from those? and from what i had seen in MANY DAMN places the EVO ran a 14.2. from reading to researching and seeing some myself. if you go and research some, you'll see that the Z runs a 14.1 not a 13.8. oh yea by the way, did i say its a 63/47? or did i say I KNOW it is? i said its a 63/47 in a mag. that doesn't mean i think tis that or KNOW its that. so im open to comments and corrections jack *** not rude remarks. and i'll give ALL THE OPINIONS i want whether im right or wrong so i can learn from them so dont tell me to learn this and that before i give an opinion. i believe this site is so we can learn from one another, not bull **** that ur giving out.

your telling me everything i said was wrong? either you dont know **** or your trying to look like one of those crazy H-T members that know it all. bro, 70% of the things i said was right so dotn say something stupid like "they were all wrong" so you can look good. its ok bro, not everyone is right all the time. even H-T members are wrong. lol
You're right. I know very little about cars, engines, tuning, and physics. I have no clue what I am talking about. I should stick to building Lego's and playing Video Games. I'm sorry to have caused you trouble. Can you forgive me?

oh yea, and i think you missed this part..." not sure but thats what they said. " so don't tell me to learn math and all that **** when you can't even read and disect the simple **** in a simple sentence.
its ok, next time.
its ok, next time.
Let me try and break this down to you nice and simple, because you're obviously very unintelligent.
Firstly, the weight balance. Let me explain to you how this works. It's based on a percentage of weight distributed from the front and rear of the car. The weight of the vehicle weighs 100%. So if you add 63% to 47%, what number do you get? You get 110%. So you're saying a professional automotive magazine printed that a car balance has 110% total weight? Please, I would love to see the article.
Second, 1/4 times. This should be the very last thing you base your vehicle purchasing on in the first place, it plays a very minor roll in the vehicles abilities. I've seen STi's to 13.2 stock, and I've also seen EVO's do 13.4 stock. I've spend well over 200 hours at the track in the last couple years, so don't even begin to talk to me about magazine figures and what cars should run.
Lastly, to even comment on which level you classify vehicles in without extensive time in the passenger seat of each vehicle is just insane. I've spent time in most of these cars listed, and I can give my opinion. Based on your post, you don't even have your liscense. Basically you're a complete moron, and should delete your post before you are embarrased beyond belief.
If you want to talk about this further, IM me on AIM instead of wasting bandwidth on Honda-Tech, and feeding these poor people horrible information.

I think you owe someone an applogy if you wished to have any future on HT.
Second, it would seem a better understanding of the subjects you post of would have advantages not only to yourself, but the people you offer "advice" to.
Reguarding the STi as "a class of its own", and backing that statment with a 1/4mile time, when the question was road course seems a little foolish.
They STi has a low 1/4time..... meaning....
The fastest cars you will see on a road course are often caterham7 kits. These usually have 15-16second 1/4mile times.
The STi has so many disadvantages over an S2000, its hard to know where to begin.
The H config engine seems like a nice place to start though. H configs and V configs share the space on the crank between 2 rod journals, this means less bearing area then an inline4. The head needs 4 cams causeing additional paracitic drag and complexity for timing belt. The runner legnths for intake when routed from a common TB prohibit proper freq resonation tuning. The exaust system is very difficult to make equal lengnth and will reasult in low EGT when trying to spool the turbo. The lower center of gravity from the H config actually becomes detrimental since the CV assemblely for the ft. wheels sits below the engine raising it, and the center of gravity. The tranny is highly prone to failier.
Lets talk power, the sti makes 300 and lays 220-230awhp using at turboed intercooled 2.5L. The 04 s2000 lays 214rwhp from a NA 2.2L. So, lets do some math. 300hp / 2.5L = 120hp/L with 15psi of boost. The s2000 makes same hp/L with ZERO psi of boost. Which engine seems better engineered???
Now chasis, subes push steer soo hard in my autoX events, that stock corolla gts from 1985 beat them. RWD is what every car in jgtc is. RWD is F1. In JGTC, they take awd skylines and convert them to be RWD just because AWD is a crutch for people who cant drive a car on pavement.
Any questions?

to correctly answer the question, since no one has done so yet
, The S2000 is in the "roadster" category. And last time I checked, the STI and EVO arent even close...

Bs2kB6 you are a dumb *** guy who just reads magazines...so you believe what you read in the magazines despite the fact that real world situations prove magazines other wise..the evo is faster than the sti...just because a car has more hp doesnt necessarily make it faster..also jake knows his ****..dont be mad just because you failed simple division and multiplication. Why would you pick a car based on a 1/4 mile time anyways..just because you live your life a 1/4 mile at a time..doesnt mean everyone else does...the evo would own those cars on a track anyways ..even if it is "slower" in the 1/4 mile according to your almighty magazine resource..thanks now go drink a cup of apple cider

ok i got my cup of apple cider and now im back...i have NO CLUE where you guys got this 1/4 mile time ****. in the mag it just said 63/47 and i thoguth 63% in the front and 47 in the back and that is what it said. im not backing up my mag or whatever the hell you guys keep saying so find a new thing to argue about cuz thats not my problem i can GIVE A RATS *** lol. i jsut said what i had read and stated that, you H-T members are TOO serious sometimes. relax buddy, go smoke one and come back

I dont think anyone can can diss you harder than your own posts. I will let them do the work for me. Its a shame typographical/gramatical errors prevent you from reading and learning. I think most people value content over appearence and can "make out" 95% of the text.
