My mom drives a '95 Infinity G20. It is an automatic but the transmission has been having problems lately. The problem is that when she puts the car in park, she can't change out of the gear without turning the car off then back on in accesory mode. All the other gears are fine and the transmission seems to work well other than that. Any idea what the problem could be? Because i am stumped. Thanks guys.

shift lockout. Electronic fix, not a tranny fix.

 

Hey ScrapinSi, any idea how to fix this? Would resetting the ECU work?

Nope..pretty sure it's a sensor and not something controlled by the ECU.

i dont know if there is a cable or electric shift interlock. look there. check a nissan forum maybe more help is to be gotten there.
