Default Where to put alarm brain on my car?

I am going to have BestBuy install a Clifford RS2.5 after christmas, and want to know where you guys would recommend I have the brain installed, as to make it harder for a thief to locate it? I also was wondering if the battery backup and tilt sensor should go in a special place? I don't want my car stolen, oh yea, my car is a 99GSR 2 door. Descriptions or pics welcome. Thanks

Well big guy, alarms are not anti-theft systems they are theft deterrants. If a thief is good, your car is gone. But, an alarm will deter 9 out of 10 thieves.

Good locations are behind center console, above or around cluster area. So many shops install brains behind the drive knee panel and thieves know that. Batter backup is nice, but only good if your siren sounds, which most thieves disable first. Then you find the ign harness, jump the starter kill relay, bam.

Damn, don't be so negative! I am just trying to slow them down and discourage them, I know that if they want the car they can get it, but I am going to start my defense system,a nd I figure an alarm is a good way to go. Then I will do the hood cable, the fuel pump cut switch, hood locks, etc, just trying to start my layer, I think I am going with the Viper 800ESP, anyway, anyone else have any suggestions, I am going to the shop tomorrow morning to talk to them.

Personally, I wouldn't waste the money on an alarm. A theif finding the brain is the least of your worries. The brain doesn't need to be found to take a car. As long as the siren is found and disabled, that's all he/she needs.

Go with the idea of some kill switches mounted in nice places connected to vital systems. If you wanna spend some money on anything, have Lojack installed. I haven't been keeping up with all these new alarm systems out, but I know they are pretty damn expensive. Lojack isn't much at all. All you need is the basic system. If anything happens, they will cover your deductible and whatnot plus throw you extra cash on top of your insurance.

Just remember, an alarm won't do anything except make sounds for the few seconds before someone cuts the siren wire. That starter kill nonsense....doesn't do anything, trust me, I know. Very easy to get a car started.

one other item to consider that is inexpensive is what is called a pain generator. this is basically a small siren and you mount it inside under the dash. when the alarm is triggered, it goes off inside (even if they disable the one outside) and makes it extremely uncomfortable for them while they try to locate either the brain or the starter kill relay. by the way, nice choice on the viper i have had extremely good luck with them in the past, and am still using one that i got in 1996 and have not had any problems/complaints with it since.
