Weight addition...
Yeah ladies and gents, thats right, I'm talking about ADDING weight to my prelude. I hate it when I see these stripped down shitboxes. I hate it even more when people call my car "fat" or "obese" then try to teach me the virtues of taking out the carpet seats, panels, etc. etc. saving a whopping 4 pounds. Sorry to tell you ricer boy, I loose 4 pounds when I ****.
If my car were a racecar I would have it stripped down to the bear minimum, however its not. It is my daily driver. Now the title of this thread probably threw a few of you all a loop, but here is what I'm getting at.
The prelude is a loud car as I'm driving it down the highway. I can hear my tires, wind noise is pretty bad, and unperfections in the roadways can be heard more than felt. I'm wanting to add some type of material (throw me a bone here) to some area(s) (a bone mang!) that will help to dampen these noises. I would like to maybe coat the body panels with something, maybe the firewall, floors, whatever else. I'm going to be replacing the seals all around shortly so that should help with the wind noise and thats the only way I know how to combat that without buying thicker glass. I'm also going to be dynamating the trunk because I'm getting ready to buy a W7.
Anybody got any pointers or helpful information for me here?

and if you don't want to be that extravagant, doing the door panels is apparently very effective.

Dynamat seems like the way to go. However I have heard of that spray on **** as well. I've heard mixed results though. Does anybody have any firsthand experiance when it comes to which provides more damping for the money? Also, I see they have different types of dynamat, Is there any one type that should go on a certain location of the car moreso than another?
I put dynomat in my car, the super dynomat, its thin and has a foil that also helps with sound and heat, I did the doors, the floor and especially around the rear wheel wells, you can also use like a dense foam inside the interior panels. like the rear side panels and parts of your door. Everything I put in didnt make it that much heavier, its like about as much as a duffel bag with clothes and some shoes.. but it helped. I can hear my cell phone ring now (and dont be a *** and give me **** about using my nextel while driving

$1/sq ft, so $90 for a full roll(90sq ft) + shipping(30 lbs).

How about that sound system that records the sound of the road, then inverts that sound and plays it through your speakers. It cancels out the noise.
I don't know how well it works.

I'm pretty sure the 5th gen preludes have some implementation of this technology. If I was an audiophile looking to get the best sound quality out of my investment, that would most likely be the ticket. However I'm looking to actually lessen the noise entering the cabin.

If you check Dynamat's website, they have some technical info. on their whole line of material. I used Dynamat Extreme on the doors and trunk, and I added the Dynaliner under the carpet and also in the doors and fenders to kill some road noise. Seems to work pretty well. my 2¢
