what custom crank for gsr block?
what custom crank that is within price range do you guys recommend for a gsr block? or just micropolish the gsr crank....also does gsr weigh more then the type r? thanks
The ITR crank is a little heavier than the GSR crank. It is more extensively counterweighted and balanced from the factory.
In terms of a custom or aftermarket crank there are a few options. You can go with an 89mm, 92mm, or 95mm crank from various aftermarket companies. Or you can stick with OEM and run an 89mm LS/B20 crank for a little more torque.
If your looking to stick with the 87.2 ITR/GSR stroke just keep your GSR crank and get it micro polished and balanced.

First you never micropolish a Crank reasons being that most people dont knoe that on the Honda crank theres a special coating that you cant see that is very slick after you micropolish the coat it is gone and causes pre-mature bearing wear. There will be critics on what I just posted but hey what expierience do they have. As far as custom cranks I would call up Aebs or Eagle they offer cranks at a fairly reasonable price ive used both and had never had problems then theres welded cranks but with those good luck with those ive seen people have bad expiriences like break, shifting problems, too much crank vibrationand so on. Good luck on your quest
yo ....how would my motor react if i just threw in a 89 or 92mm crank? what would i have to do inside the block to make everything work together

If you run a gsr block than you just need to take out the oil squirters and plug them up but then the rest is a drop in. LS is a drop in also no needed modifications

OEM gsr rod bearings have a special coating but there is no magic coating on the crank. BTW, I build 2 engines per week for customers and micropolish every crank with no bearing problems what so ever.

The micropolishing makes the surface of the crank smoother not rougher, that would make it take more time to take the "coating" of the bearings...so whatever happens when the coating wears away on a micropolished crank is the same that happens on a non-micropolished crank, it just takes longer to happen which is probably a good thing...
I would take earl's word for it! I think he may know more then you about building motors!

Look coming from such a Reputable person like Earl he seems to knoe alot he was trying to tell me "why would you notch out the LS rods when the you dont need to because gsr bearings will fit rite in" that was in the room called "vtec oem bearings vs ls oem bearings" look for yourself Earl you shouldnt post things that are untrue like you told me
